AUBURN, WASHINGTON -- Brought my SUV in for a simple spark plug change, but while they were in the process somehow they dropped a bolt in my cylinder causing the whole engine to be destroyed! They then tried giving it back saying not to be concerned about the rattling in my engine, and that the plugs were changed. After demanding they fix the rattle they created they held my SUV a week telling me every day a different story as to why there's a new rattling. After being carless for a week and calling daily they told me it was being towed to the dealership it came from and that they would pay to fix the damage they caused.

My car broke down on the highway on 11/02/2009 and was towed to the Pep Boys in Fontana, they installed a new fuel pump and it ran fine afterward. A few weeks latter my car broke down again and I had it towed to Pep Boys in Burbank. They told me the engine needed to be replaced and it would cost $2,000.00 and I gave them permission to install a new engine. I ended up paying $3,195.00 and taking delivery on 12/9/2009. After a few days I realized the engine sounded a lot different than the original and it was ticking and knocking. When I called Pep Boys they told me it was just a new engine and it was just settling in.

Shame on Pep Boys - scammers and thieves. The Pep Boys at 830 Military Dr. in San Antonio, Texas, are full of lies and deceit when it comes to servicing your tires. Your boss, Pep Boys President, Mike O'Dell knows about this and will not get involved. An email to Pep Boys President gets no attention: Today I visited your Pep Boys location at 830 SE Military Dr. in San Antonio. I needed this visit to correct a vibration problem that was felt on my 1995 Mercury Mystique. This has been an ongoing problem since mid 2010, yet I was not made aware of this until recently from my brother.

CRESTWOOD, ILLINOIS -- First, some history on my 2000 Chevy S-10 4X4. My truck is in excellent mechanical condition. Maintenance has always been performed by the book, on time, no short cuts, no exceptions. On my way into work on 12/10/2010, I began hearing a noise on the front driver's side of my truck which I assumed to be a bad wheel bearing. I took it to Pep Boys in Crestwood Illinois and talked with the service manager. The service manager initially gave me an estimate of $45.00 to investigate the noise.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- My experience with Pep Boys: 7/10/13 Wednesday 5:15 P.M. – I notice flashing clock and poor starting. Go to Pep Boys Buy new battery and it is installed by Pep Boys. Waited on by **. Installation complete and I start to leave. I turn on my a/c and notice it is blowing through the defroster vents but the knob is set to the dash vents. I return inside and notify fleet mgr ** of the issue and am told by ** there is no one available to do the diagnostics on this issue and that if I return Wednesday before 5 pm that he will ensure that there will be a technician available.

HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK -- Back in December, I brought my car to the Pep Boys in Hicksville, NY (on Long Island), as my engine was overheating. They took it in and worked on it for a few hours while I waited. That night, I got my car back and, ~$500 later, it was working. Fast forward to March, and my car started to have the same issue. I thought "There's no way it's the same thing" and had it towed to another shop nearby that my boyfriend had used. Lo and behold, it was the same issue (thermostat housing was leaking). I called Pep Boys and had it towed to their shop. They had the car from Thursday til Monday, and when I picked it up Tuesday, my car was dead.

CARTERET, NEW JERSEY -- I had a faulty fuel pump replaced at Midas. One month later I broke down on the NJ Turnpike and had the car towed to the Carteret Pep Boys. The next day Pep Boys called me and I was told it was the fuel pump again. They gave me a price of $950. I told them that Midas had just replaced the fuel pump and I thought the price had been $800. I was told to bring the Midas bill with me when I picked up my car and led to believe the price would be matched. I presented the Midas bill to **, the manager at Pep Boys, he charged me $900 to replace the fuel pump.

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA -- I dropped my truck off for service this morning at about 10am for hesitation and rough idle issues at the Panama City, FL 23rd Street location. I was told by the service manager that they would run a diagnostic test and have an estimate for me by early that afternoon. I left at that point to run some errands. By 4pm today I had not heard from them so I called to check the status of my vehicle. I was told by the employee that he just got on shift and would check on it and call me back. Two hours later at 6pm I still had not gotten a call. So I called again. Again I was told there was no information and I would be called.

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA -- I notice a small amount of antifreeze on my garage floor. I do most of the mechanic work on my car and truck. So I started checking for the leak. Checked radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, coolant line for oil cooler, I noticed small amount of seepage around lower timing belt cover and water pump. I was going to make the repair but my wife thinks I'm too old to still be working on my truck. So I took it to Pep Boys and told them about the water pump leaking. I know when you replace the water pump it is best to replace the timing belt too because you must remove the timing belt to get to the water pump. This was quoted as five hour job.

GLEN BURNIE, MARYLAND -- After deciding to replace two tires on a 2007 Toyota Prius, I began looking online for a good deal. I was on Pep Boys website and found a tire which was affordable so I called the store to check on availability. I was told they had them in stock so I made an appointment for the next day. After driving an hour and a half to the store, we were told they did not have the tire we wanted. I asked about a tire in the same price range and was told that the only tire they had was so cheap that "they never put them on a car." I was instead offered a tire that was about $35.00 more per tire.

AUSTELL, GEORGIA -- Pep Boys advertises the best tire prices in town. I had to purchase one from them due to a nail in my sidewall. They quoted a basic price of $196, which did NOT include the rebuilding of the TPM (tire pressure monitor). In addition they did not have the tire in stock. I then went to Discount Tire, who quoted me a basic price of $140 for a similar tire, which INCLUDED the rebuilding of the TPM. They also had that tire and 3 other tires for my vehicle in stock. Needless to say, they do not have the best prices in town.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I went into the store on 35th ave. & cactus, there were 4 employees in the register area, no one greeted me when I came. I went to the tire area which is next to the registers, I was looking over the tires and looked at the 4 people at the registers, they were talking, no other customers in the store, now I know why. Not one person came to assist me or ask what they could help me with. When I asked for help, they said they would see if they could find someone, but no one went anywhere or called on the phone. I left and bought 4 new tires elsewhere. Worst customer service I can remember in a long time.

HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA -- I needed new tires, I decided to try Pep Boys. I was pleased in the beginning, they found the tires that I wanted, it went downhill from there. It was expensive for starters, 850 dollars for a Mazda 3. It took them almost 5 hours to complete the job, and once they were done and aligned it, the car completely pulled to the left. I came back, they rotated the tires, still had the problem. The next day I went to Firestone, they said the tires had a defect, so I went back to Pep Boys and I told them what Firestone said, they refused to admit that the tire had a defect.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I never do this but I have to! Needed 2 tires replaced. Watched my car sit on the lift for 4 hrs as the so called mechanics walked around and played with themselves.. I "thought" they were busy working on other cars but apparently the longer they keep your car clocked the better for them. I think this location hires all ex-cons and very ignorant guys anyway. Hey, I know you don't need a college degree to be a mechanic however I have a lot of respect for "mechanics" NOT these idiots on Columbus Blvd who are extremely rude and don't even want to work.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- On 12/02/06, I purchased 4 new tires for my car, paid for everything even the road hazard warranty, when it come time to have the tires rotated I first was told that I had to leave the car for at least 4 to 5 hours, well because I'm handicapped that wasn't possible for me! So the manager said that I could make an appointment to come in and have it done (rotation). But even with an appointment he said he couldn't guarantee that he could do it even then, saying that if someone came in at the same time as my appointment that I'd probably still would have to leave the car anyway.

VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA -- On average how long will take to repair a tire? I'm very disappointed of this store/service dept. I have been in the store multiple times and seems like they need to provide better service. All I hear is customer complaints service not been on time even when appt has been set up in advance. There is a reason you expect to get help when you need it, especially if you had an appointment.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- I have aluminum rims that can be a pain in the neck with slow leaks at the beads. The guy who changed my tires busted his butt cleaning the beads (I didn't even mention the leaks) and cleaning the mounting surfaces on the van. I expected a quick unprofessional job. (How professional can changing tires be?) The guy (**) impressed me. I was watching him work on the van and thought "I wonder if I should give him a tip", then I thought "I'm going to give him a $5", then I thought "I'm going to give him a ten." I tip waitresses much more for less service! Thanks **...

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- In April 2008 I had a flat and took my vehicle to Pep Boys to have it fixed. I was told there was a hole in the sidewall and it couldn't be fixed and must be replaced. New tire $135.00. I was also told my remaining three tires were dangerously thin and should be replaced. I agreed. 4 tires plus balancing alignment and old tire disposal $485.00. I instructed that the spare tire be placed back under the truck as a spare (had never been on the ground until the flat: 9-miles).

My daughter has my car towed to local pep boys after calling pep boys 800 number and being offer a 19.99 fee for towing as long as car was being delivered to pep boys for service. I called them to confirm they had call and status. The manager said i needed to buy a battery because the cars battery was dead before he could do diagnostic on car which would cost $89.50 I told him the battery in car was brand new, but could have it replaced as defective which I did and had battery delivered to shop by my son-in-law the next day a Sunday.

I went in to Pep Boys for an oil change. They offered me a $20 rebate if I used Mobil 1 oil, so I did. The first problem when I came to get my car was they wanted to charge me for 11 quarts of oil. My car can only take 7 quarts. The service guy was adamant that my car took 11 quarts. He finally went and asked the actual guy that did the oil change and he admitted he only used 7 quarts. The second problem is that I submitted for the rebate and after a few weeks I checked the status of the rebate and I was told that the Mobil 1 oil doesn't qualify for the rebate and I would not receive the $20. I've had other issues with Pep boys overcharging in the past but this one is the straw that broke the camels back. I will NEVER go back again.

Me and my husband went to Pep Boys for a new set of tires, and we ended with a transmission oil tube broke. After that they told us that they going to fix it. So we have to came back, and yeah they fixed it but now they broke the muffler. We just went to get a set of tires and we ended with all this. Totally not recommend.

First off, let me say I have not only had a horrible experience with one Pep Boys, but with upwards of a half dozen stores all the way from the Midwest to the west coast. Every single location was an awful experience, only to be exceeded every time by the next experience at Pep Boys at a different location. Let me begin with my experience in Indiana, where a simple break job turned into 4 visits, with damaged rims, lugs and shotty brake work, which eventually failed driving through California, causing them to fail driving up and down steep mountains.

I went to pep boys on Sunday at 11am on 10/4/2015. I ask the man at the desk how much it will cost to put breaks on all my wheels. He gave me a price I said OK. I then asked him if they could do it on that day he said yes. But we had cars ahead of me and that they could get to my car in an hour and a half I said "OK, I will wait." So two hours passed by I got up to stretch my legs and I notice my car was still in the front of the store where I parked it. So I waited another thirty minutes then got up again and my car was still there. I went to the guy at the desk and asked him how much longer he said he didn't know because all the guys that works on the cars went to lunch. I told him "I couldn't wait any longer, give me my keys" and left. I won't ever go to a pep boys again the one on 240 and walker in Oklahoma city!!!

Sometime last year I took my car back to Pep Boys for the manager's special oil change. Now I'd been bringing my car to Pep Boys on and off all last year. So, two weeks after my oil change, my car springs a leak and now the oil and the antifreeze are now mixing in my car making this liquid coming out of it looking like milk chocolate. When I call up there, they're like, "Yeah you've blown your transmission now, it's be cheaper just to get another car." I'm like, "2 ago my car was fine, I hadn't drive anywhere but to work which was like 10 minutes up the street from my house." I'm convinced they did something to it, because I hadn't had any trouble up until then. So I ended up having to trash the entire car, and get another one. That one was already paid for, so now I'm with a car note for the first time in like 20 years.

My boyfriend and I took my mother's 2001 Volvo to get a set of tires and an alignment. The car had absolutely nothing wrong with it when we dropped it off. When I picked it up the power on the driver's side does not work!!! I called them, they wanted me to take it back but I didn't want to because I went for tires and they broke my mom's door!! I was afraid they would do more damage! Please help me!!

Was at New Jersey, Jersey City Pep Boys near 440. Already knew what the problem was for my car but they still wanted to inspect it and see if it was really that, so I let them. They did a suspension test at first which made no sense because there was nothing wrong with that and they told me the same thing. So they did a front-end check and after checking it out, they pulled out a bunch of BS and in total they tried to charge me $1300 for a $100 job.

It took three hours for them to put a tire on my car! Which they end up not doing! They had the worst, terrible customer service I've ever experienced in my whole entire life! Don't tell me what tire to fix. I'm paying you to do a service and you can't even do that simple task! Firestone was 100,000 times better!

Not so long ago I went into Pep Boys for a routine oil change. Everything seemed fine. I paid and then drove off when they told me they were done. About a week or so later my oil pressure light came on and flashing. I went to check my fluids, and found that my oil was not there. It was bone dry. I paid 59 dollars for nothing but for them to empty my oil tank. I thought I was mistaken and assumed ok well maybe it's a little but nothing was in there. Not a drop. This happened while I was on the road. Could have blown my engines gaskets or worst costing thousands. My advice. If you get work done ask for your parts back so it's proof they changed it out and if you get an oil change here make sure you check your oil before you drive off. That will save you time and money. Perhaps this was a mistake. I don't know.

I was on my way out of town when my car cut off so I was towed to Pep Boys in Franklin, Ohio where they told me I needed a crank sensor. They kept my car overnight and I picked it up the next day but they didn't even give me my old part back. A week later my car cut off again and this time they said the timing belt broke and it cut off the same way it did before. Mind you I had all new parts on my car. I had it towed to Pep Boys on Gordon Highway in Augusta, Georgia and they said my pistons were bent the next day and they said it would be 2,010 dollars and that was only for diagnostic testing but it would cost more for each piston that was bent.

I went in because my car had hard miss. Codes 300, 306 and 304 came up. This required coil 6 & 4 to be replaced. When I received a call from Cesar to inform me of this he also mentioned that I needed my throttle body to be clean because it was dirty and full of gunk. I declined this service and again he stressed that it really needed to be done due to the dirt and grime built up. Again I declined this service. I decided to drive down there as it was around the block from my house.

I had to go to Atlanta because my son was admitted to the hospital. On the way the rim of one of my tires became displaced. I took the vehicle in, had to order another rim, which only took a day to get. The next day I asked if they could also replace the rotors and brake pads, for which I already had purchased prior (new ones in the back seat of the truck). I figured not to hassle with it on my next day off work and just let them install them. I was charged $126 for them to replace the front brake pads and $178.50 to replace the back. Keep in mind, that is $304.50 for all four sets of pads, just labor, not including the price of the pads or installation of the rotors.

When my tire blew out, Pep Boys was the closest shop to obtain a repair. I went to the Pep Boys on McFarland Avenue in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Chris attempted to ring up my bill without allowing me to see the bill. I refused to pay until I reviewed the bill. He had deliberately padded my bill for $60 by adding a road hazard and service contract, add-ons that were never ever mentioned, discussed or agreed to. After I left there, and was researching Pep Boys online, I learned by purchasing 2 Falken tires I was entitled to a free oil change, which they deliberately concealed from me, to rip me off.

I had an appointment at 12 pm. They started to work in my car at 12:45 pm after I told the manager that I have to go back to my work at 1:00 pm. I was watching the guys from the window. They were talking more than working with my car to replace one tire and they didn't do balance for my tire because they were very busy talking. They don't do their job right although they charge me for installation and balance $28, so I advise everybody you have to know what they are doing exactly for your car because they charging you extra money without working. Once I asked the manager about the balance including the balance he said "yes". I told him "Please ask them if they do it or not." They said, "Sorry we forgot and give us 2 seconds to do it," and I am late for my work so I am not do anything with Pep Boys. They don't have any responsibility with the customers.

I purchased a set of tires in 2013. I return to Pep Boys with a broken belt in one of my tires. When they could not find the replacement tire they told me that they would not honor the warranty. The only thing they offered was a discount on a new set of tires that I did not need. Having no other recourse I decided to write this note in the hopes that no one else ends up with the same problem. Beware of the boys.

I took my car to check at Pep Boys and they came up and told me that if I didn't fix it right away I could get kill from my car so I apply for a credit card with them and they were supposed to fix my car. But, two month later the same thing was happening. So I went back and their stories change. Now there was more things wrong. So, why they did not tell me the same day I got the car supposedly fixed? Now they wanted 1,700. So now I want a refund to my card.

My wife took car in for set of tires. Ever since I have been putting air in them, my wife took them there five times and they put glue on the beads, checked them again cause they still leaked. I finally talk to the service manager [**] he came out with my aluminum rims were defected. He said for me to bring the jeep back and I said why cause they had seen it five times already??? If I'm not mistaken Illinois has a lemon law. Store#479 - 5222 touhy ave. Skokie il. 60077. And 200.00 for a battery, 480.00 for a starter with guarantee [I replaced last week and paid 89.99 for at O'reillys]. I hope they will do what's right... I'll let you know.

I took my Corolla 2010 to change the broken Dipstick tube, initially they quoted by saying that the gasket would also be required to be changed and they estimated 2 hours for the service. Later on they found out that they only needed to change the Dipstick tube and they called me in just 30 minutes that the car was ready. I contested that I should pay for 1 hour labor charge. The guy on the counter replied, "Well we could have told you to pick the car 4 hours later and would have charged you for that much time". And he also added that initial estimation is industry standard and I will have to pay for 2 hours of labor charge. I paid that reluctantly but not sure if I should have.

When we first came to Pep Boys, it was on behalf of our car stopping in augusta. Once we got there, Mr. ** the manager played deaf and would make black people constantly repeat themselves. Soon after that a man named Jake said he would take a look at our car and after some time, Jake returned to tell us that the tensioner for the timing belt was stuck and caused the belt to break. He showed us the tensioner but he did not show us the alleged broken belt. He told us that it would be 316 to order the parts but 932 in total to repair the problem because he would order a timing belt that came along with a water pump and he tried to dress it up by stating that it would be a wise decision to replace what was already a brand new water pump along with the timing belt, saying that it tends to go bad after replacing the timing belt. My mother agreed and he told us that he was leaving and would finish the job tomorrow.

I have been a loyal customers for over 30 years, in California. When I moved to Las Vegas, I was ripped off. Approximately 2 months ago, I brought my classic car 66 Dodge Dart GT to Pep Boys on 4670 E Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89121 to adjust the points on my car manually. The car was running great, to the point where ** (General Manager) offered to adjust the timing for free. Then came along an old hillbilly named **, who's supposedly was the big kahuna for classic cars. Said that I should go to SoCal, a high-performance parts store, and purchase an electronic ignition and a new coil for $250. After I purchased the parts I came back to the store and found out that ** was sent home for arguing with management. I made an appointment for another day and ** was not was not there for my appointment that day.

On 08/02/2015, return vehicle to Pep Boys for failure of the air condition unit on 1995 Ford Explorer. On 08/03/2015, I was informed by David ** (service manager) that another leak check was performed, estimated repairs would cost $1000.00 + to repair, after having this service perform then repair done on 06/15/2015 in the amount of $283.53. Pep Boys has limited warranties on their parts and services for 90 days or 4000.00 miles. Called Mr. ** then asked to be reimburse for the service fees and parts on 06/15/2015 for air conditioning services that failed. Mr. ** refuse to reimburse these fees contrary to limited warranties for parts and services. Also, a wheel alignment was supposedly performed that I did not request not authorize nor appears to have been done for this vehicle in the amount of $89.99.This matter is being investigated and waiting on arbitration decision.

Service department at store #730. My family was traveling across California to Utah when our battery started having trouble. We stopped at this store where it was advertised to have free battery checks all over the walls (why advertise it if it is such an inconvenience). We asked to have someone to come out and check the battery and was told they were too busy to help. I work at a service center and I understand being too busy. I get it but, we were willing to wait until someone had a second to check it. I was very concerned driving across the desert with my young child. I needed a little bit of help to feel more secure. I have checked batteries at our service center and it takes just a few minutes of their time to help someone traveling through.

I took my vehicle to Pep Boys Manchester, NH for a leak in the cooling system. They stated the radiator was not bad yet but needed replacement. The water pump was also suggested to be replaced. I had them do the job and it took 3 days. I received my vehicle on the 3 day and less than 24 hours, I hear a clanking that got louder and louder as the engine was idling. I called Pep Boys and they gave attitude. They said it was a "whole new problem" over the phone. I brought it in and the manager stated the water pump belt was loose and the bolts around the pump had loosened due to the vibration of the engine. It was THEIR fault and I lost another day of work.

I took my car in to be serviced at the Pep Boys on 11/27/15 specifically for the roaring noise on my vehicle. They did an evaluation check on my car and told me that I needed a sway bar which was worn and new tires, etc. I mentioned that I specifically wanted to fix what was contributing to the noise and the associate told me the sway bar needed to be replaced so I said go ahead and replace that then and I would wait on the tires. Now that I know...word to the wise women sway bars don't make the noise I described it was keeping. When I got my car back it was still making the same noise and I took it back and then they said it was maybe the wheel barring but test drove it supposedly the second time and said it's the tires making the noise.

I went to PepBoys @ 506 S. Decatur Blvd. in Las Vegas Nevada. They sold me a power steering pump for 86.00 for my car (I had to buy it because they did not have time to do the work and I needed my car). So I paid 200.00 to a mobile mechanic to come to my house to replace the part. It worked great for a week or so then my son noticed he had to keep putting fluid in it. So he took it back to Pep Boys to find out what was wrong. They told him to come back the next day for a diagnosis. He went back and paid 25.00 for a diagnosis. They said the power steering cap needed to be replaced - the seal was bad so he went to Friendly Ford and purchased a new cap for 30.00.

In Oct 2015 I took my Volvo 740 turbo in for a fuel pressure regulator R&R. They towed my car to another location & promised me no charge. Four days later they replaced the two bolt part & charged me $520.00. I reluctantly paid it then went to the next Pep Boys by LAX & asked them how much to R&R the fuel pressure regulator. They said $163 out the door. I contacted Gus, the manager of Santa Monica location and advised him I was overcharged $367 for the repair. He offered to credit me "but to keep it between us". A huge red flag, but I didn't make issue at the time... A few months later I went to redeem my credit and was told he no longer worked at Pep Boys. So I took it up with new manager. I'll continue this review shortly...

I went in on 12/24/11 to have my master cylinder replaced and by brake fluid exchanged. When I picked up my car at the end of business day (they closed at 6pm, I was there at 5:27pm) there were multiple new problems with my car. Here is a list of the new problems I am facing:- Tachometer and Speedometer now goes to highest number available when starting the car- Odometer back light does not stay lit at 100%. When I turn my vehicle off, it goes back down to the minimum brightness and remains there until I readjust it.- Dome light no longer turns on manually or when I open the car doors- Electric locks no longer open the doors with my alarm key fob or by the door controls. The only time the door control will work is when the engine is running.- Stereo no longer works. It doesn't turn on, the digital clock is not on.When I told the guy working when I picked it up (Aaron and Omar - both very nice) they said to come in on 12/26 and they would fix it no charge (of course). I went in to speak with the service manager on 12/26/11 - Mike Barron. He stated that the problems I am now having do not have anything to do with the service I went in for and if I want them to look at I can leave my car overnight so they can look at it and give me a quote. I let him know that I should not have to pay for anything and he said that wasn't his problem. I continued to try to talk but he walk away from me.I went in with a working vehicle and I expect to have a working vehicle when I leave. This has been the very worst experience. I have been a Pep Boys customer since I got my very first car 10+ years ago. I am still trying to figure out what my next steps are regarding this situation....

Pep boys in West Chester has got to be one of the worst stores ever for management and customer service. As a frequent shopper at the store I've had several disappointing trips but I'm going to tell about our last 2 experiences. My wives battery died and left her stranded at work. Understandable batteries die, things happen. The battery was less than 1 year old. Having bought a new battery where she was stranded a replacement was unnecessary. I brought the battery in to Pep Boys, they put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so and said the battery is holding. If the battery didn't hold the charge I would be refunded. I told them the battery failed my wife once I do not want the battery. I asked the employee if they would put this battery back into their wives car? Nope. They told me too bad, I am going to have to eat it. So I went to get the core money back and was told I can't have the money for a reason I am still not certain of. While trying to clearly understand the reasoning the BOSS, as referred to by another employee, told me to "take the battery and leave." Seriously that's how it's handled? So the previous experience went like this. My wife had a flat tire so I changed it and put the donut on. She went into Pep Boys to have the tire repaired/changed earlier the next morning. The manager was at the service desk, she told them she needed a tire changed. She was told they do not do that here. Pep Boys doesn't change tires? She left and went to Pep Boys in Exton where they did it free of charge. Do we really have to drive an extra 10 minutes to go to the same store? So in conclusion I will not be a frequent shopper at Pep Boys in West Chester no longer. I would advise anyone who reads this the same.

My wife took her car to Pep Boys in Amherst, NY for an oil change and they overfilled it by 1 quart. She returned for a NY State Auto Inspection where they insisted she needed a new serpentine belt. At about 36,000 miles it was pristine and they backed off. She drove the car about 3000 miles before the next years inspection. Miraculously a brake line started leaking so i got involved and they backed off. I took my car there for an inspection and somehow a front caliper was damaged by them. I asked for the part to inspect but they lost it. Next year I did a preliminary inspection and took it in. I told them I would wait for it. They had two cars ahead of me and I waited four hours until their manager approached me and demanded to know why I had been it their store so long. I told him I'm a customer waiting for the car that has been onthe rack for over three hours. They tried the serpentine belt approach or the vehical would fail. I told them to print it on the invoice but they decided it was immediately acceptable to pass. They were the only convenient shop then but happily not now. Bye Pep Boys.

I took my Honda Accord in for front break replacement. They told my I needed new rotors. Job cost $400 + tax. I declined and took it to Honda the next day. No new rotors total job was $250 + tax. My immediate thought was that I had been ripped off when I took my Nissan Maxima in for the same work a month prior. I had the rotors replaced, which was - I see now - probably not necessary. I'll never go back.

walked in for oil change and the service agent try hard to sell me a new battery because my car for some reason just died there after I parked in, very suspicious, just to find out was not the battery that I needed but a new starter, so they put a new piece in, and with that I took the car home, did not use it until Thursday 07/23/2015 went to bohemia NY11716, once I parked the car and finish the job I went there for the car will not start again, because of my warranty on the new starter, pep boy did tow me to 993 middle country RD, Lake Grove, where they did a commanding job of not only replacing a new piece, but finding what the queens store did wrong in whirring ! so I command Nicholas R Multari and Rodwin Allicock! and your towing service have a very poor timing Called in around twelve o'clock promised to be there by 1:30 pm, but the tow truck arrived by 3:35pm!

I advise anyone from Gulf Breeze Florida to avoid our local pep boys. They are in my opinion-crooks! They are highly overpriced and complete idiots. Went in to have a few things done and came out with a broken car!! Don't even bother complaining to the district manager he is just as shady. There are plenty of other reputable places in this town, I regret ever stepping foot in that place.

Do not make any purchases from Pepboys.com. When you checkout and use site to store they will require you provide them not only your credit card number and security code they will also give you an incorrect total. Even though they also require you provide them your address and phone number, and they are fully aware of where the local store the purchase will be shipped to, the total they will give you will not include any applicable sales tax. The website obviously has lazy ITs who do not want to make the effort , or possibly do not know how to program the checkout procedure, to include applicable sale tax. It’s probably the later. Also, be prepared to get another surprise when you go into the local Pep Boys to pick up the purchase. You will find out that the credit card number and security code you provided them online was never used and they will want to run the card locally. Now you’re in two different databases, the national data base for Pepboys.com and the local data base. Wow, now you have a double chance of having your credit card defrauded. Go to a reputable website who have knowledgeable ITs to make your automotive purchases. Pepboys.com have nothing but incompetent idiots working for them.

It is unfortunate that there is no AutoZone store near me. The only auto store we have is Poop Boys. I CONSTANTLY run into advertised items that cost more than advertised. Today there was a special on Castrol Edge synthetic 5-qt. + Fram Extra Guard filter for $32.99. When I go to the register with EXACTLY those items, it comes up $33.49. I bitched. Turns out there's really fine print at the bottom that says the deal is based on filters costing $4.99 or less. Apparently their Fram Extra Guard filters are $5.49 -- $0.50 higher -- so the tally came up $33.49. I know it's only 50 cents, but if you advertise oil with a Fram Extra Guard filter for $32.99. . . it should cost $32.99. What it comes down to is DO NOT TRUST ANY AD IN THEIR FLYERS. If you pick up EXACTLY what they advertised, go to the register and find out it ain't the price they advertised, leave it on the counter and walk out!

I was very disappointed with the manager and staff at Pep Boys in Orange Beach, Alabama. My friends and I stopped for assistance after hearing a screeching sound coming from the right front tire on my vehicle. After being there for over four hours, I was given an estimate of around $600 for repairs. I was told they would need to replace the rotar, brake pads and possibly the caliper . The manager used very inappropriate foul language with us when trying to persuade me to let them do the repairs. My friends and I felt uneasy about the situation. We had a friend (certified mechanic) to come and see what he thought we should do. He realized that Pep Boys were trying to make unnecessary repairs. He then told the manager to put the tire/ wheel back on so he could take it for a second opinion. After doing this, the manager dropped a pebble on the counter and said, "This was your problem." After removing the tire/wheel, the pebble had fallen out. This was the cause of the screeching sound that we had heard. We drove around 400 miles home without any problems with the car. The next day I took my car to a local mechanic shop and had it checked out to see if the pebble had damaged it in any way. There was no damage at all. Pep Boys had just tried to take advantage of three ladies who were traveling and trying to return home. Please be aware of this business if you are in the Orange Beach area.

I was in today 4/19/15 and was very disappointed with the customer service checking out. This is a review on the older man not the female she was very friendly. The older man with the white beard was very rude, I asked a question about getting the advertised price on oil and was treated like I was trying to get one over on him . This is not ok. In my opinion he has no business being in customer service this location in wheat ridge CO needs a new leader. The female that was at check out before him was good but when he came over he ruined my experience and am considering not going back.

My husband took the car in for a flat tier and it turned out it was not fixable. We had to get a new set of tiers which cost almost $ 1000. We didn't have time to compare the price since the car needed to be fixed right away. The wait time was long, almost 3 hours. But the wait was comfortable, the store had WiFi available and people were nice. Since we didn't have appointment and it was an emergency service, I think it was not too bad.

A rider or a car enthusiast may love this site. I don’t think anyone else may love this site so much. This site deals with car accessories. PepBoys delivers the parts of a car as ordered by their customers. Thus you cannot find any good articles to know about a brand new car in this site. This is only for business.

I was very impressed with the PEPBOYS in Lodi NJ on 153 rt 46 W The first thing that I noticed was that the place was sooo clean it was immaculate, I"ve a few bad experiences in their competitors shops, when it was sooo dirty I didn"t want to sit down. I was greeted with smiles here with smiles . They took my car in right away to do an oil change. the store mgr Rey along with his associates were very helpful and really nice. The mechanics at this shop are down to earth, professionals who really took the time to answer my questions with patience. They found a couple of things wrong,a part with all the bolts missing & apart that wasn't the size to fit my car, which would have eventually ended in the collapse of my car and a bad accident.I was shocked to see that the mechanic from my last shop would be so negligent to do this. The PEPBOYS mechanics told me to take pictures with my phone and I did. I feel that these nice guys saved mine and my husbands lives and I am very grateful to them for finding this. Rey the store mgr went out of his way to price parts to get me the best deal and he made me feel very comfortable even giving me the tv remote to watch what I wanted while waiting. This Lodi store worked very well as a team even coming out to check with Rey on certain things. Rey even happily accepted my coupons, while Chris gave me a ride home in his own car so I didn"t have to wait there, although I didn"t mind waiting there since I got a dunkin donuts iced cofffee next door and watched a movie while I waited in the nice clean shop and relaxed. The only thing this shop needs is a bigger sign closer to the high way because its set back and you can"t see it but you can see the competitions bright yellow which is right before PEPBOYS. I really appreciate the whole team at the Lodi shop and am very thankful to them for all the care and help they gave me,especially saving our lives by putting in the correct parts and not leaving very much needed bolts off. Thank you and Bravo to all the guys at this store. Sincerely Joan Marie Schambach

I have gone to Pep Boys for years. Had many problems new?? tires blowing out in 2 months the other one started to split had to stop and get spare put on at the closest place I could find. The tire dealer said it looked like a re-cap. I bought them as new tires, how can this happen? They did replace all of them with a better grade of tire. Then the battery was only 6 months old and a cell went out in it. A while ago my engine light came on and I went into Pep Boys and they did a test for '$100.00 The quote was over $950.00. The car is only worth $500.00. I live on a fixed income no way could I afford there charge. I called a friend at Auto Zone and he referred me to AAmco. Same work done for under $350.00.

Extremely poor scheduling management and even worst customer experience. It's been more than 1.5 hs since my scheduled appointment and these guys have not yet started to work on it. When I arrived I was told that they were running aprox 30 min late, but they would do whatever they can to get my car in asap. All in all, I was told, I should be done in one hour. At the hour I checked and nothing happened. 1.5 hs later still waiting... How long will this go? Who knows! Any reasonable explanations or signs of concerns? Hahaha

Got a flat tire on Saturday, was desperate in finding any service willing to help nearby.Called PepBoys, said they can get it fixed in 15 minutes. Came in, waited for 1 hour, after which they said they do not fix this kind of punctures and the only thing they can recommend is to replace whole tire, and they have it(obviously), and you need to replace both. $500 out of pocket for a mattress spring in you tire. I refused, found tire shop on Ashland and got it fixed in 20 mins for $20.

I should have paid attention to the feedback everyone posted in Yelp about this particular Pep Boys.  This location is a complete joke.  Two years ago I purchased four new tires.  Initially I was happy with my purchase but after about a year my two front tires started to lose air.  I brought my car to Lexus for a general maintenance check.  They noticed the deflating tires and offered to replace them.  I told them no because I had a warranty with Pep Boys.  After I got off the phone with Lexus, I called Pep Boys and explained my situation and set an appointment.  When we got there on Sunday, they didn't have a record of my call or the appointment I had scheduled.  It was a little annoying but they were still able to get us in, OK, no problem.  I went shopping across the street and received a call from them about 15 minutes later.  When I answered, they asked me where my tire key was.  I told them I didn't know and that they were the last ones to touch my tires.  I guess I should have known where it was because I might have needed it in an emergency but literally no one has touched it since then.  Basically, it was no where to be found and, of course, I have no proof that it hasn't been used since they worked on my car.  They probably forgot to put it back or kept it - either way, I'm stuck without a tire key and will probably have to pay Lexus for a new one.  When I do, it will be interesting to see what Pep Boys says when they inspect the tires.  We'll see if they take responsibility and honor the warranty or try to charge me some extra amount of money.  I'll keep you posted...Bob

This is a follow up to my original post. The Pep Boys on Elston is under new management.  After seeing my review on Yelp, the new manager, John, contacted me and offered to replace my struts at no charge to me.  I brought my car in and they did the work as promised.I would give four or five stars but I can't because of so much of my time that was wasted getting to this point.  I also still feel that I was over charged on the labor on my original visit which wasn't remedied.

I made an appointment online. I received two emails, the first confirming my request and the second confirming my appointment. What is the point of being able to make an appointment if they can't honor it? I showed up on time only to be told they won't be able to see me. Customer service apologized, said the website doesn't translate to the actual shop time and that this is an issue they are trying to fix (is it really that hard?! Take away the option then! What a waste of my time!). I feel worse knowing this has happened before to some other schmuck. I called another store and again I receive the same answer and an apology saying they understand I was scheduling it around my time. Here's the thing, I did not schedule it around my time. I scheduled my appointment around the time they offered me. Fool me once Pep Boys, shame on you. I'll be darned if I'm fooled again. Yes a bit dramatic but I am sitting in the parking lot feeling very screwed over, wishing I could place negative stars on this review and very much feeling my place as a stupid consumer. Word to the wise, if you are going to use Pep Boys, don't be stupid like me. Call ahead and verify your appointment. Now, can someone direct me to a more reliable tire shop?

I was aware of Pep Boys being awful and expensive but cheap for Oil changes. I was leaving for a month long road trip and thought it would be a good idea, So i brought my car in for an oil change thinking they couldn't mess that up. Guess i was wrong. They haphazardly crack the plug off my oil pan to cause a leak. The incompetent mechanic told me that they couldn't put a temporary plug in and that i had to basically drop $500 to fix my car right now. How did a $20 oil change turn into a $500 cost so quickly? Finally one of the slightly more competent mechanics realized that they COULD put a temporary plug in, but stated that it wouldn't last more than a couple days. I spend the first 3 days of my road trip in fear of leaking oil on the highway. When i finally reached my day off in Toronto, I took my car to a autoshop. Not only did the mechanic say that the temporary plug would hold, but that i didn't need an oil pan replacement. Guess what? THE PLUG HELD THE ENTIRE TRIP. Thank you Pep Boys for being money-grubbing liars who try to scam everyone out of more money because no one trusts your work, and this is why. NEVER take your car here. NEVER.

There are so many negative things that people write on Yelp, I thought I'd be the exception.I just left Pepboys a couple hours ago, where I needed my tire fixed (there was a nail in it), before I drive a long distance tomorrow. When I walked in, they told me they couldn't fix it tonight because they were already going to be there way after close (it was 30 mins until close). Knowing that feeling when people do that to me at work, I politely said 'Okay that's fine, I totally understand! Thanks anyways.. I'll come back at a different time.' After I said this, I was ready to leave. This is when one of the mechanics stopped me and asked what I needed done, and then proceeded to ask me for my keys - he was willing to do it for me, on top of his full load for the night. I was caught off guard and so unbelievably appreciative, that I decided I was going to tip him when he was done. Once he was done and I tried to give him money, he wouldn't accept it.. I then went in to pay and the lady walked out from the back and told me that I was 'all set.' On top of helping me late, my services were taken care of. $20 might not be a lot to some, but being a college student, it's a lot for me. When I walked in there tonight, I had no idea I'd be writing this right now. Proof that good people do exist, but even more proof that simply treating people with respect (even when things don't seem to be going your way) is recognized and appreciated.

I live in the area and went to this location to have an alternate set of tires placed on my vehicle. The next day while traveling the "check tire sensor" light came on while I was on a road trip to Canada. When I returned to Chicago, I went to the location and told them. They asked if the tire pressure was low. The answer was no as the Vehicle provides  provides a different warning for that. I explained more than likely there's a problem with the sensors when they did the work. Four hours later i came back and they told me it was fixed. I got in my vehicle and the light/problem they said was corrected was still an issue . Obviously they don't have the capability to know how to fix what they potentially caused.  Going to the Chevy dealership as I just need it fixed.

DO NOT take your car here unless it's just an oil change. And probably not even then. I'd taken my car here twice for oil changes before, and they were always relatively quick and reasonable and I liked the fact that I could make an appointment online. So when my brakes were acting funny, my boyfriend and I thought it would be good to get them to check it out before we drove 8 hours (the next day) on a road trip.So my boyfriend took it in on a Tuesday morning, where he stayed for four hours with little to no communication. After four hours, they told him they had to replace the brakes ($400) and the master cylinder (also $400), so they would order the part and it would be ready the next day around noon. The next day (when we had hoped to leave around 6 am), we didn't hear from them, so my boyfriend decided to go to the store at about 2 pm. At 3, they took the car back (good sign, right? and already 3 hours past their quoted time), but at 5:30, we still had no news. At 7, a full 5 hours after getting there, my boyfriend said they hadn't given him any update, and his phone died. At 9:45 PM, he finally came home with no car and no hope. At 9:30 PM, they had finally informed him that the part they ordered was defective, and we wouldn't get a replacement until Friday (because of Thankgiving)So tl;dr my boyfriend spent SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS in their waiting room with NO COMMUNICATION. We then had to rent a car ($400) for the weekend, to which the guy managing our car said "oh sorry." Despite promising to call on Friday, we hadn't heard from them by Saturday night, so we called. "Oh the Mazda? That was fixed Wednesday," said the project manager. NOPE. No one had bothered to write anything down, so the internal communication was completely nonexistent. He then told us everything would be good Sunday and he'd give us a call.No call. We called on the way home, and we were told it was fixed, so we stopped by the store. SURPRISE-- it was not fixed. The guy took us through everything like they'd made great progress, but literally nothing was better.Long story less long, it took them TWO WEEKS and FOUR REPLACEMENT PARTS to give us our car back. In that time, they called when they promised exactly zero times. I realize that sometimes parts are faulty, but at least let us know.Anyway, they didn't charge us for the master cylinder, but I will never ever ever ever ever go back here again.

Very unreliable! Took 2 hours to check the status of the car break. Then I got the page that the car is ready. When I got out, my car is still in the service area with no tires! The manager on duty can't find the staff who is working on my car. Waited another 30 minutes. This place is a hot mess! Everybody needs to go back to basic training on customer service. This place never heard of under promise and over deliver strategy.I will not come back to this place again. I should have been warned with the 2 stars rating here at Yelp and never brought my car here in the first place.Don't know how this place stays afloat with poor customer service.

Thanks to Mike and Julio for taking care of my car! They were easy to work with, did not push unnecessary or expensive services or items and went above and beyond to help me. Julio is an honest mechanic too. I asked him to change my air filter, only to have him tell me I had a brand new one (I guess hubby changed it and never told me). Julio could have easily ripped me off. Thanks guys! I'll be back!

I've been to this Pep Boys quite a few times and I've always had a great experience. I thought this last experience warranted a good review. I went in there for wiper blades and I bought the ones that were in the book as the right ones. They offered to put them on for me and, upon pulling into the bay and removing my old ones, informed me they were the wrong ones. The gentleman who was working in the service bay escorted me inside, showed me the right ones, handed me the sleeves to pay, and the correct ones were on before I was even back outside from completing the exchange. That was amazing service... on top of the good service I usually get. I'm truly sorry others have had bad service, but I think it's just as important to talk about the great experiences as the bad ones, so this is getting posted!

Mike who works at the service desk is awesome, I've worked with him for years.  Rashad is also a great guy but I've only worked with him once.I have been coming for years, they screw up, but they take care of all screw ups and are very honest about everything.  In one case I needed a new battery, they agreed to install one for me at a fair price.  While installing the battery they broke my key off in the door and reset the computer so none of my other keys worked with the car.  They paid to tow the car to the dealer and paid the dealer to reset my old keys then bought me a new one to replace the broken one.  Then they discounted my repair to compensate for the extra time I went without the car. I highly recommend them for tires, living in Chicago my car gets flats.  Buying tires here has the benefit of a roadside hazard warranty.  Now when I get flats they fix them for free or discount the cost of new tires steeply if they can't be repaired.  I've tried smaller Indy shops from yelp in the past and their warranties suck!  They might do a better job initially but when I had something go wrong I found pepboys where they stand behind their service.

Made appointment after two other Pep Boys, close to me, told me they had no "master" mechanic/technician available on a Sunday. Decided to call ahead because of unavailability verbalized by other Pep Boys. Was told "we can check it-no problem. Might not have parts though." Went in to be told it would be a TWO hour wait before they could see car. Why make an appointment??? Why go to a PARTS store if they may not have the part car needs. Going to dealer mechanic.

I recently took a rare classic car here for suspension work that other shops wouldn't touch, for fear of having a lift tied up while waiting for hard-to-find parts. They stuck with me for over four weeks as I tried to hunt down one part after another, never complaining about having one bay occupied the whole time. Friendly service, quality work, a love of old cars, and they even gave me a discount on the labor. If they were better about returning phone calls, I'd give them five stars.

They tried to scam me or are incompetent. It's been a year since this has happened, but I think people should know.I went in with a large oil leak and they said I have to replace my whole oil cooler.  They quoted me at $1.2k or so.I got a bad feeling and told them to give me back my car.  I towed it to the dealer and they said I only had to change a gasket, which cost me $250.

When I initially brought my vehicle in , I thought "not bad" on the service and wait time. Of course I was the only one there to wait on and the garage was quiet also. So pretty quick on my radiator check and off I go on my trip only to have my engine seize from overheating not 3 hours away. I tried to drive it slowly ,nursing it along as I was in the middle of nowhere ,the nearest auto repair with a tow service was 150 miles away..  Thinking it was a fluke, brought my other car in for some work ,(they were walking distance from me)I told them what I needed done , I don't have a garage or lifts but apparently those don't help these guys anyway. That car never did run right after their repairs ,they kept telling me there was a mysterious electrical problem following a battery ,alternator and belt replacement. The battery was a $150 Bosch ,best they had , I don't skrimp. Finally just sold that car with full disclosure  ,I stupidly trusted their diagnosticians..bought another import..that too soon needed a battery ,damn chicago extremes. Again, I bought another Bosch from Pepboys and they installed it -also big bucks, soon after the car wouldn't start if it sat for a few days.        I dealt with it almost all winter ,AAA came out with a tester when I called for a jump and told the guy he was wasting time  and sure enough , the battery was defective , it had a bad cell!!  He printed out the diagnosis. Changed that battery and not another problem! Oh and I did not bring I back to those butchers..did it myself..Then I thought about the other car with it's mystery electrical crap...The Bosch's were likely old sitting on the shelf or a defective batch and I wasted ALL of that time , money and frustration , not to mention being stranded on the coldest days...I wasn't going to bother posting , but if this helps one person from the unbelievable stupidity that I dealt with , it's worth it. Go ANY where else for auto repair and parts!!!And save your rebuttal , I shouldn't have to ,as a customer , bring my car to get the battery tested when you sold it to me and installed it.....twice!!!! Guess who is now a proud owner of a 15 dollar battery tester?

If you care about the safety of your loved ones, do not go here.  I have proof that they charged me for new rotors and then resurfaced my old ones and attempted to pass them as new.  This is fraud, and illegal.  I have video of the resurfacing and photos of the rotors after the resurfacing.  When confronted, the manager simply got in his car and left. They are charging for new parts, and leaving the old parts on your car.

I broke my serpentine belt on my way to work this morning and this Pep Boys was the closest auto parts store to the Loop.  I'm so used to the over and above service in my home town.  We pre-ordered the parts online. When we got there.... Not one hello or how can I help.  The guy grunted... "You ordered online? I think there was a problem with the belt" what problem, I asked? He just walked away.  After yelling at a few employees not to touch his register from across the store, he came back and threw the belt on the counter.  I said don't forget the tool we ordered with it.  He just looked at me and said, just wait, I'm not done. He brings the tool back and rings it up saying I cannot use my pep boys rewards number.  I just want to fix the car and go home.  I'll find another store in the future. Not even have a nice day or even good-bye!

Like all other posts I should've trusted Yelp. All i needed them to do was give me a quote and inspection on my brakes. I called them to ask just how long that might take they said "30 minutes, no problem." I then asked how long would it take for them to install the brake pads to my car if I did end up agreeing to the quote and inspection. They said "Hour and a half". I was very pleased with both of these answers and the confidence that went into both of them. Unfortunately nothing went as it should have. I had been calling places all morning Jiffy Lube, which I should've trusted and gone with, Pep Boys, and local auto shops. I got multiple quotes and time frames of when they could do this all because I wanted to go to Bloomington to pick up the rest of my stuff in storage before work started next week because I'm moving into my new place. So I decided why not go to Pep Boys first let them inspect it in 30 minutes then give me a quote and if I like it, I'll tell them to install it and it'll badda bing badda boom. Unfortunately it wasn't anything but. I work during the week so I took 30 minutes out of my work day to go to Pep Boys drop my car off because the brakes are f'd up and I don't feel comfortable driving that car all the way to Bloomington the way it's started to drive recently. So I dropped it off there and went back to work and everything seemed like it was going to be ok. well I dropped the car off at 10:15am and after two hours and fifteen minutes I decided to call back at 12:30pm. One of their service guys said "Alex is working on the inspection and putting numbers together right now, he'll give you a call back in 10 minutes." He hung up and I was like ok. Then I go back to work and before I know it, it's 2:30pm and not a call because I've been watching my phone while I've been working. I call them back and ask them what's going on with my car you said 10 mins two hours ago and it wasn't even supposed to last till 12:30. It was suppose to last 30 minutes! Finally I got in touch with Alex and he said "oh man I must have gotten your number wrong because it just get saying invalid #." No duh you wrote it down wrong, you think I gave you a fake number to fix my car? Jesus. He even repeated my number in the beginning but still got it wrong. I'm not so mad about the number thing because mistakes happen but he should remember for next time maybe he doesn't hear everything as clearly as he thinks so he should confirm more than twice with customer. My problem was that they were behind schedule when I called them at 12:30pm because at 10:15am they said an inspection would take 30mins and they didn't have it done in two hours and 45 minutes. Then it took me to call them back again. Cmon Pep Boy, you don't have caller id or a ring back thing or something. That's outrageous. Now it's 3pm and I'm 20 minutes south of Pep Boys if I take 90 and there is no traffic. But it's 3pm and a Friday so 90 will take over an hour to get there so I won't be able to bring my car to another shop until tomorrow which has now caused me to not be able to go to Bloomington tomorrow because I can't get my car in time. I left my car there at 10:15am and it's now 3:05 pm. They told me 30 minutes for an inspection. Much longer than that. My advise is to stay away from this Pep Boys. Go to Jiffy Lube or a local auto shop. I should've trusted Yelp like I normally do but I thought how could it be that bad. It's a huge store. But if a huge store is run by subpar workers, lying about time estimations, that can happen and it did to me. So thanks Pep Boys, way to live up to the hype about you. All the comments are true. And I bet their PR/Customer Service person will reach out to this comment like she has for every other truthful comment and say "I'm sorry to hear about your experience at one of our stores Will. This is not how we're usually run. Could I get you in contact with our Customer Service Department so you can describe it more in depth to them?" No I wrote the story here. I'm done with Pep Boys. Leave me alone, your Customer Service obviously hasn't done anything to change the way your employees act after so many people have had such a miserable experience here. Maybe you should stop writing responses to truthful comments and actually train somebody how to be a good Manager at that place. I HATE PEP BOYS! Jiffy Lube you have won by default.

Terrible experience overall. I decided to give these guys a shot after another horrible experience I had 2 years ago. I paid for a synthetic oil change and I see them through the bay window adding the cheapest conventional oil. This harms my engine as I always use synthetic. Unbelievable to save a few dollars. Anyway. This time, an engine light came on and they have a free code check so I thought I'd give them another chance. I went in right when they opened in 15 minutes, they were able to check the code. It said it was the thermostat. So I told them to replace the thermostat but they told me they need to run diagnostic before they could proceed ($90). I told them I didn't need that and to just replace the thermostat but they gave me the runaround and said I need the diagnostic before they could proceed. I had to leave the car there. They called in an hour and said they needed to replace the thermostat. Oh, gee, I wonder why. So I ask how much and the cost is- a ridiculous $500. I came back to the store to talk to them. I asked for the estimate sheet and it had the engine thermostat at $90, with the gasket another $20, and $400 for labor. Additionally, they tried to sneak in a coolant flush (Not needed) and an oil change (Not needed). Totally bill was closer to $700. Luckily, there is an autozone across the street and the same thermostat was only $25.  I asked why the labor was so expensive for a seemingly 10 minute job. They told me they have to remove the exahust manifold to replace the thermostat. I asked why they're lying because it just isn't true. Of course, they didn't know any better. I paid for the useless diagnostic and left. The gasket for the thermostat is attached to the housing already, they were charging for the extra gasket for nothing. I bought the thermostat from Autozone, long curved needle nosed pliers for $15 and changed it myself. I needed to refill the coolant ($10) as some leaked out. Didn't need a flush. Total cost less than $55 and an hour of my time. Check engine light went off. Car didn't overheat or indicate hotter than usually after 25 miles of driving today. Pep Boys preys on unsuspecting people who don't have common car sense. Absolutely terrible service. Never coming back.

This place is understaffed and their online system does not communicate will with their store. However, the store is large and has a good selection, and once you do get a hold of an employee, they are friendly and helpful.I placed my order online for 3 items in order to utilize their 35% off coupon. It said it would be ready for pickup the next day, but I never received a notification. I called a few times but the phone just rang and rang, so I just went there. I could immediately see that they were understaffed, as a couple employees were hoping from the counters of different departments to help customers. I had to wait a while until a cashier arrived, and he looked around for the order and confirmed it wasn't ready. I asked him if I could just go find the times and check out with the price I paid online. He wasn't sure and asked around and then said he would take care of it. It took a couple employees to find my order, and I pretty much had to tell them the exact items. It up taking a while. People started lining up behind me to check out. CJ went down the isles and selected my items. He rung me up, and I told him I'd make two trips and be right back to finish loading. To my surprise he walked out and loaded the remaining in my trunk. He was very friendly and helpful, but I later found out that all 3 items were incorrect. My receipt showed the correct items I ordered online, but I guess their system has no way of verifying the ones you pick up are correct. I caught 2 of the incorrect items before I left, but not the battery because it was the same brand I ordered but the wrong model. The worst part was that I didn't discover this until I pulled my old battery. Luckily I was able to get there 10 minutes before closing. Although I had to wait around for a while until a cashier was available, I was able to get my core refund, which I would have had to go back for anyway, and they gave me the correct battery with no hassle.Overall, the store is large with a great selection, I got a great deal, and staff was helpful and has good customer service skills. It just appears that this store is understaffed so there can be large wait times. And if you order online, make sure the items you pick up match exactly.

Not all workers have the same motivated attitude like a select few.The store manager does everything he can (within reason) to fix a situation or give you the best deal.Lines are often long and only one cashier working both service dept and main store. There doesn't seem to be much communication between service depart eat and the technicians. For example, a car was finished for well over 30 minutes before the customer finally inquired about his vehicle. The cashier retrieved the paperwork and began out processing the customer.

I MADE the APPOINTMENT!  Two times I bought my cars to do oil change and two times the staff promised me to do it right away (immediately) and two times I have to wait for more than an hour, one time they told me to wait there, and second time I decided to go home and come back an hour later and found the car was not even move from the parking lot. IF THEY CANNOT DO IT, DO NOT PROMISE THE CUSTOMER.Service Manager was EVEN arguing with me and told me the technician went to lunch, AND TOLD ME I SHOULD NOT TALK TO HIM AND HIS STAFF LIKE THAT....I was telling what I was told and promise by their staff....Although, they gave me a free oil change the second time and gave me a coupon that will expired in less than a week (what a joke!), the first time was only $2 off, BUT WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT??? It's waste of my time to wait.....

DON"T DO IT.I recently made an appointment to have my fluid levels and tire pressure checked for an upcoming trip.  I was there almost 2 hours  :(     In the end they said NOTHING about the basics I asked them to check, but tried to tell me I needed $1700 worth of work.  One day later I was under the hood and noticed that there was undisturbed DUST on the very caps and sticks PepBoys would have had to touch to check my fluids!  THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

Very nice and helpful workers. They greet and acknowledge everyone that walks in the store even though they are busy. Don't believe the negative comments. It really depends on your patience. Pepboys go by the waitlist and luckily when i came by for a oil change there was no wait. I was in and out in 30 minutes! However, after i left i noticed they drained out all my windshield water which was very strange but whatever i have plenty at home. Overall i had a great experience with the customer service i would definitely come back !

Came in about a week ago to get all four tires replaced and it was awesome! Took it in early in the morning and it was done by noon the same day. They had the tires I wanted in stock and the manager there, Brian, did a great job at helping me out and figuring out what would be best for my Dodge Dart. He was very knowledgeable of his stuff and had a good handle on my needs. Will definitely be returning for any future service I need on my car.

I've used this store many times over the years and have been happy with the selection and quality. I just found out that you don't offer employees bereavement leave! Your slogan is "We look out for each other. It's the right thing to do." but what about someone who just lost his mother, or a mom who lost a child? Do you look out for them? Would you really make them choose between their job and going to the funeral? That seems very cold and uncaring. And if you don't care about your employees, then I question whether you care about your customers. Please reconsider this policy, and change it!

I shouldn't give them any star because they don't deserve any. My son's car has been there for  two months now and they've been telling him there is no part, we ordered it already and just waiting for it , there's no technician, they will tell you all kinds of excuses. My son had his car fixed in San Leandro and paid them almost &700 and didn't fix the the problem so he took it back to the one in Union City since we moved to Hayward . It was there for almost a month and then when we went there they said we have to take it back to San Leandro since they're the one who fixed it first. They towed it to San Leandro and it's been there for more than a month now and the same they haven't fix the car and telling us all kinds of bullshit. Pep boys is the worse shop in the Bay Area . You should be ashamed of yourselves,!people need their car to go to work. What if it's your car? My 4 year old granddaughter has been taking two buses everyday to go to school because you guys are very irresponsible, you should just  close your shop if you don't meet your customer's needs. Just tell us what kind of parts do you need and what company should we call and we'll do it for you.

The employees in the work area were just standing around how about get your asses in here where customers are waiting to be serviced. Absolutely horrible service.

Made an appointment on a Sat at 2pm for an oil change. Arrived on time to drop off my car. Upon arrival it was pretty busy and there was a line for the service dept with 2 employees helping and Lance the manager assisting.  Lance noticed the line and greeted everyone with a hand shake to let us know we would be helped shortly.  Wow! at Pepboys!?! Some car dealerships dont even do this. Always Acknowledge the customer especially when its busy and Lance did just that.Brendon helped me out and he was a nice guy.  Having worked there a few months he was very helpful, knowledgable and went through the process w no problems.  I was originally going to get my service done at Wheelworks so I showed them a special coupon I was going to use.  After discussing w Lance they were able to accommodate and take care of me. They finished the job and it didnt take too long. Same wait it would be at a dealership.  Ignore all reviews made by impatient people!Overall I felt like these guys took pride in their job and they tried.  If the store was more staffed the store would be better of-course. But this is not the employees fault so I encourage all the nasty customers to be a little more patient and have an open mind. It sucks for these employees that ghetto customers don't posses these qualities.  Its a shame.  Good job to Lance and Brendon! Please keep up the good work and customer service regardless of all the unreasonable customers you get.I will come back here!

I needed new tires bad, and I needed then fast. A friend told be about pep boys in San Leandro so I thought I would give a try. I was helped by some young guys named Brendon and Lance. They worked quick. They were able to set me up with tires that would last me the longest, Michelin Defenders I think was the name. Brendon even told me about a rebate I was able to get! Hey 75 bucks is 75 bucks. All in all it was a quick and painless experience, just taking off one star for the waiting area and slow wifi.

I've been to this location twice. They're in no hurry to help you, and I waited more than twenty minutes before I was giving the details of my vehicle and what I needed done. I had a headlight out and since I drive for work I couldn't put this off. So I waited, and although one employee seemed to be more helpful than the others, there is a whole lot of don't-give-a-crap in the air here. The lack of communication amongst employees and unassigned assistance results in having to repeat yourself to five employees, who then have to go asking everyone else for answers.I came back here to have spark plugs changed. I bought the GM-recommended plugs myself and wanted to just have them put in. Instead, the employee asked me if I could return them to were I bought them and he could match the price with their own plugs. Not only would that be a huge waste of time and gas, but it's also preposterous that they can't just charge for labor -- they have to get you to buy parts from them too. So screw this place. If you want my business that bad, Pep Boys, let me decide how much of it I want to give you at a time. Otherwise, I will take all of my business elsewhere.

I was like okay they look a little busy, my car wasn't even in the shop at 6pm....really. what the hell am I making an appointment for if I'm not a priority?I'm still here at 7:30pm and they haven't finished the alignment check. It would be a better if the employees seemed at all apologetic but they aren't. That's what you get at the San Leandro Pep Boys and they get paid by the hour, they don't care about you or your time.

Two words describe this location: excellent service. They were able to solve problems I've had with my vehicle for months that other mechanics couldn't even detect. One of the employees, Mike Jr., is extremely personable and provided me with extensive detail about the problems surrounding my vehicle, and what they did to fix them. The manager, Lance, is excellent, personally made sure everything was done right on my vehicle, and provided me with tips on how to take care of my car in future. And the service was inexpensive! I'll definitely be trusting these guys to take care of my car from now on.

Let me be clear here and state this is an overall rating. 3 stars for quality and price. If your looking for customer service, it's here, but a lot of it is just what you want to hear. Don't make any plans or appointments for the day. Drop off your car and wait for a call. Doesn't matter what your getting done, it will take hours so go do something else! Your not here for customer service, your here to get your car in the best shape possible. And they do that, it just takes about 4-6hours! Quality people!

What can one say?  Ratings are correct.  I'll pre-empt you, pep-boys.  Not gonna contact that BS corporate email address.  Worst shop in Brooklyn. Had a 7 PM appointment.  Seen at 830.  They gave me some BS explanation for why my car was shaking.  They said they'd call me in the AM with an estimate.  They called me at 4:30 PM with a 3,000 estimate, only after I called and sat on hold and hung up for 30 mins.  Went to get the car and it took another 30 mins.  Then took it to my local guy who solved the problem for 40 bucks.  All crooks.  STAY AWAY!  In any event, contacted the AG's office and BBB.  It's a big company so prolly wont to anything.  STAY AWAY.

My husband and I had a major situation with our car... we needed to refill our car with oil in order to turn it on and move it before alternate side parking the next day.  We called to make sure this PepBoys had the Royal Purple oil we needed.  We spoke to George and he said they did, but it was 850pm and they closed at 9pm.  Our drive from our apartment was 15 minutes, so we borrowed out neighbors car and we're hustling to get there in time.We realized that we were not going to make it in time  before the store closed and called back to talk to George.  Of course we understood that long hours everyone there had put in, but George said he would put the oil we needed to the side and give us a few extra minutes.  We made it to PepBoys by 903pm, got the oil we needed and were greeted with tired but extremely helpful help.  His helpful cooperation saved us from getting a street parking ticket and salvaged our Labor Day weekend trip south. We are deeply thankful for the understanding and cooperation from the late night employees when they obviously could have just said no and left us stranded.  No other Auto store will get our business from this point on.Thanks!!!!

Not sure if what they say is true or not but the feeling is always like I am being ripped off. This place is running a scam and will extort you and hold your car hostage. I brought my car in for an inspection. A 2010 Honda Civic all in working order. When I went go pick the car up they said it failed inspection because of a brake light out and that it needed new wiper blades. Both were fine when I took it in. I think the guy's name was Ali, he then tried to sell me the most expensive bulb and wipers or else he would fail the car. He wouldn't offer any other options for parts only more expensive ones. I had to look up their inventory myself on the website for other cheaper options.

Made an order online and went to pick it up 2 days later. Unlike the first time, the order was ready to be picked up. However, the attendant who processed my order is a weirdo. As I stood near him on the other side of the counter, he walked out from behind it and right past me. No sound, no nothing. As I continue to stand there, old man homeboy walks pass me again. You would THINK he would tell me that he just brought all my stuff to the cashier. But no, he doesn't say shit.  He just leaves me standing there until I walk around the store and the cashier looks at me and waives.  She knew what was up. You can tell old man homeboy was not in a good mood that day.  Either way, I'm still giving 4 stars. Their online deals for supplies are unbeatable with instant 30% off. Old man homeboy, get some rest.

I've been going to this location for 4 years now, because I live across the street, so it's convenient. I normally have good service there, but I ended up having a really BAD experience about 1 1/2 ago. So bad that I stopped going there as I didn't want to come into contact with the employee that caused the unfortunate situation.I also had a favorite there, Frank, who since I started coming to that location has always taken very good care of me & been available for any concerns I may have.  Well after avoiding the place for over a year, I was on my way to move my car when I heard, "How come you never come see me anymore?" I look up & its Frank!  I immediately told him why I hadn't been back & he told me that the employee in question was no longer employed there.  I was SO relieved as I hated not being able to utilize the convenience of this PepBoys, and they have my cars history, etc.  I told him I was in bad need of tires (I wasn't sure where I was going to go that would guarantee their products) & he asked me to come back.  I did go back & because of Frank, they gave me a very good deal & even some services without charging me, in an effort to make up for my bad experience & with the hopes that I would give them another chance.  Because of Frank, and also Chris, this location is now back in my good graces.I am so happy, because they actually do take good care of me & I hated feeling as though I could not feel safe going there. (Safe meaning for my car, not personal safety... there is no concern for personal safety, it is perfectly safe.)I do wish that the guys at the service desk would be a little more interactive when they see someone waiting. They do tend not to acknowledge folks waiting, which, even if it was going to be a long wait, makes a person feel valued.  Just a nod or a greeting of "I'll be with you shortly" is the difference between feeling valued or not.Beyond that, I actually do appreciate this PepBoys.Thank you mostly to Frank! He is an asset!***I'm giving 4 stars & not 5 as I am slowly moving back into full comfort there *** I will raise it to 5 as I continue to feel that it is consistently earned.***

Went here today for the first time to collect my NEW BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2 A/S tires. Wanted to get them asap, as there is a special $70 manufacturer reward this month and planned to use my usual trusted mechanic to fit/balance. Had a bit of time spare and thought, why not get them to do this at Pepboys? Chris was a pleasure to deal with. Even without a service appointment my car was processed right away. The mechanic was happy to pump the tires to 36 psi and even had a quick check of my brake fluid. Would not hesitate to go here for my next set of tires.

Hey pepboys manager,Instead of replying on yelp asking for details where I would have to give you my email address, how about you just read the details I've already written along with the many other one-star comments that are written on here. Please stop pretending that you care and perhaps actually manage this location instead, if you don't want one-star reviews.

I needed a tire.  Pep Boys' website said they had tires starting at $39.99.  One of the brands mentioned at this price was Starfire.  I went there on Sunday morning (10/23/15).  No tires at that price to fit my car.  However, they did have the right size in stock for $64.99. Also Starfire.  And it turned out that another of my tires had to be replaced because it had a screw in it --- too close to the rim to plug according to the technician.  Bottom line? $189.57.  But the customer service guys were nice and pleasant.

I made a appointment on line. When I arrived, Christopher, the clerk behind the counter, informed me that it would be 60-90 minutes before they take my car in. When I asked about the purpose of the appointment he retorted that one doesn't see a doctor at the time of the appointment. I know my doctors see me pretty close to on time. As for checking in and telling of my car's issues, the same Christopher was obnoxious and condescending. Maybe because I'm a woman he assumes I don't know about my car.

Went in for an oil change and they told me there was a problem with my suspension system: lower control arms had to be replaced. The parts were over $1200, looking online I found the same parts for around A THIRD the price!I decided to get a second opinion from a friend's trusted mechanic. Thank goodness I did because the control arms were COMPLETELY FINE!! They did NOT need to be replaced. Pep boys tried to scare me into unnecessary repairs, DESPICABLE

They told me they called 3 timesNow how can you call that many times and only have one registered call and no voice messages5. Get out at at apx 9.:30-45And they tell me inspection was done at 6:10pm but only received one call at8:20!This was circus act hard to beat

Pep Boys has done it again.  Always professional and on point.  Had to take my Honda CR-V in to get a Brand New Starter.  The General Manager Joseph Giordano recommended me to Ali, one of the store's leading mechanic, and he along with Deen got the job done in a prompt manager.  My car has been starting without any troubles since then.  This store is great, professional, reliable, and always ready to help, as soon as your vehicle arrives on the their lot.  I'm a proud customer of this Pep Boys in Brooklyn.  And I recommend all of my family & friends to this place to get their vehicles fixed up and back on the road.

I've been to this Pep Boys since like 2010 and I have never written a review, but today they took care of me fully, Manny, the guy in the service center, was real helpful. I went in for an inspection, and it was done in a jiffy. He explained the process and kept me updated throughout. They are all very courteous and friendly, and especially helpful. It was my last day before my inspection month ended, Thank you Pep Boys, you saved me a ticket! Wonderful me I recommend this location to everybody!!!

I made an appointment for 1 p.m. and pep boys did not start working on my car till about 2:15 p.m. I went to see if they were almost done with the work around 2 p.m and they did not even start working on my care because they were taking care of the walk-in customers before customers with appointments. I expected my car to take at most an hour but i did not get out of there till about 3:30 p.m. On top of that, they tried to charge me for something that did not have to be changed on my car. When I told the guy that it doesn't have to be changed, he said the tip of the sensors might break off during the work and if that happens, he will have to charge me to replace the tips of the sensors. It just seemed like they were trying to charge extra for unnecessary things. I have changed my tires several times now and none of the places I've gone to broke the tip of the tire sensor. So it was absolutely ridiculous to be given an estimate with 4 new sensor tips. So it was basically an estimate with intention of breaking or charging for even without changing. AND on top of that... it is very unprofessional to work then stop to chit-chat and then work and stop to chit-chat. After waiting for an hour thinking the employees are working on my car, I lost trust and wanted to make sure someone was actually working on my car and what I saw was the person working on my care taking forever because he wouldn't stop talking to the other employees. He worked on one tire and then stopped to talk for a while then worked and stopped and this went on with all four tires. If the employees at this pep boys worked professionally, the wait time would probably be cut down to half. I am soo annoyed with the service at Hackensack Pep Boys and will never go back to this pep boys for any work on my car.

Took my car(2011 Sonata) in for new brakes and a caliper, they call me to let me know the car is fixed and to come pick it up. I get there and all the wheels are off and they tell me that they broke a caliper on the other side by accident so now I have to wait a day for them to order the part and repair it. Fine. The next morning I get a call the car should be ready by 4. Okay, great, 5:00 rolls around I call to check on the status of my car. The guy tells me they ordered the wrong part and now I have to wait another day for the right part to be ordered again. Then tell me that to compensate me for the trouble they wont charge for the labor on a part they broke and only $50 off of a $849 bill. Meanwhile I missed a day of work and time with my daughter. I will never take my business here again.

Worst experience ever! I've been to pep boys to purchase things that I needed like car cleaner, rim shine, tire cleaner and the list goes on. Mind you, I have State Farm and I enjoy having them. They may not be perfect but they work for me. I have an app that's called "ln-Drive" basically is a built in Diagnostic for my car. It tells me everything that's wrong with it. When I went to Pepe boys I wanted to get a diagnostic done(just to see if what my car was saying on my reader was accurate. That cost was $98.00 VERY Expensive but I did it anyway. They told me I needed a tune up, and a 02 sencor low voltage. My reader told me I only needed an 02 sencor but I figured why not get a tune up its probably been awhile. So all that came up to about $595.00 INCLUDING LABOR. So okay, I just got paid today so why not!? I waited they said it'll be a 2 hour wait. That's pretty long but I want my car fixed and it better be fixed and nothing should be shown on my reader. Long story short, I waited for basically the whole day. When he first told me they were working on my car it was sitting right in the parking lot until it was getting ma little dark. So I left and came back and it was still being worked on. Mind you it's like 4:30pm now and I brought my car there at 10am. So now I'm frustrated.. So, I go up to the mechanic and he looked at me and said "well, your car is going to be shaky but there's nothing wrong you would also have to go to the actual dealer of your car and get it re-programmed because the engine check light is still going to be on." So in my mind I'm thinking I paid $600.00 and nothing? My cars shaking now ? The check light is still on? What did I exactly pay for? Did I just pay for my car to get worse? I don't think so.. So I yelled and complained and you want to know what they did ..?? They gave me $55 dollars back oh I was livid. The worst part was checking my accurate diagnostic reader from State Farm and this time I have 3 problems wrong!!!!!! 1. 02 sencor low voltage 2. 02 sencor High voltage 3. Misfire Now how come? Because they don't know what they're doing. I had the worst experience and hope no one else does. Think before you decide to take it to a place that would careless about your car. I hope this helped.

On this occasion I came in to replace a starter and/or an alternator after my AAA battery was checked twice by AAA tow truck drivers and confirmed to be working properly. So I thought an alternator and/or a starter was the problem as per the AAA drivers suggested treatment for the car having difficulty starting when turned off for even a day or two. PepBoys determined it was not my alternator or starter and indeed determined I "had a weak cell" in my battery and the AAA battery needed to be replaced. I could've easily been charged $300+ for services I didn't need. PepBoys took the time to determine the cause of my vehicle's difficult starting problem and it turned out to bethe battery. Their check revealed it was the battery all along. AAA's warranty kicked in and I had AAA visit me at PepBoys' parking lot to replace the battery now that I had a 3rd party proof that it was the battery and that I needed to utilize the provisions of my warranty. Upon revealing my situation to several friends, I found out that some had not the patience and just bought a Diehard from Sears. It took three visits by an AAA tow truck driver and a 4th visit to a 3rd party, PepBoys to finally get the battery I needed all along. I left my car idling while running errands for months due to this battery problem, thinking it was a more expensive repair. If you suspect an AAA battery problem, don't call AAA (unless you need a jumb of course, which was the situation in my first call to them), go to PepBoys in Ventura on Thompson, and they'll verify for you. Thank you PepBoys.

I had a very pleasant experience today at Pep Boys (Charlotte location). Considering I did not have an appointment they got me in and out in a timely manner. Normally I am weary of salesmen and mechanics trying to up sell me, overcharge me, or try to tell me I need to add a service when I really don't. There was none of that. The clerk at the front desk, Gary, was extremely helpful and professional and made sure to get me the best deal and truly did save me some money. I have never written a review on any business but I was so pleased. Thanks again to Gary for saving me some $$

They are very helpful, looked for the best tire for my vehicles and worked hard to get me the best price. Mark is an excellent manager with attention to detail and cares about his customers. Gary is very knowledgeable about the tires - especially the tires at Pep Boys - he gives you the scoop to make an informed purchase without any pressure. This place sets a 9:00 a.m. appointment. I arrived twenty minutes early gave the female attendant my name and only to be told that there was no appointment scheduled. She walks away and goes into the store to chit-chat with other fellow employees. Two customers arrived after I did and she attended to them, totally ignoring me. This person did not attend to me until 9:01. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Lousy customer service. Why does management hire employees with no people skills. These employees are greeting the public and getting paid to do a job. Without consumers they would be out of a job and on the welfare line. HR screen your applicants and Management get these people trained.

Had a newer tire to replace my spare . A man who worked there took care of it as soon as I got there. And what threw me for a loop was that he didn't even charge me. The absolute worst experience I have ever had. Will no longer take personal or business vehicles there. Service desk did not do what I took the vehicle to do. Told me 2.5 hours for brake job, oil change and tire rotation. Dropped off at 2 pm Saturday. Called at 5pm Saturday and was told they would check on the car and call me back. Move to Sunday at 10am, I drive by and see my car still in the spot it was left. I call and they said it was done. Went to pick it up and all they did was oil change and a brake inspection. Talk to manager. He said he would lower brake job price from $190 to $99. Also lower rotors from $85 to $50. Agreed and left the car again until 5pm Sunday. Went to get the car and price was not as promised. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE. Take it to a business that cares about the customer.

So this is the 4th time I bring my sons jeep into the Corpus Christi Pep Boys for the same issue 10 months, and every time it's a NEW issue that is causing the same problem. I wish I had read the reviews before I brought it here to begin with. $825 so far in charges and another $175-$200 the "service advisor" girl said today! So $1000 so far in 10 months for a squealing belt. They also include an "extended 1 year warranty" at an additional cost but don't give you the option to decline! Only after I questioned the charges did she tell me about it. After that I feel like your team is "padding" the services and just saying I need things done when it was probably a simple fix. Your device description states that they inspect all pulleys when they replace belt, well each time I have come it's a different pulley but never a mention of a possible issue the time before. This will be the last time I bring any of my 5 vehicles to a Pep Boys for service and will make sure that everyone I ever talk with about auto repaid, parts or tires know about my experience at this Pep Boys. You have 2 star rating online and it shows in the service your team provides at the Corpus Christi Pep Boys. Horrible service and dishonest service people.

I don't know how their actual service is because I never received service. I was told there was a half hour wait when I showed up and I'd be out in an hour by a very unfriendly employee. After an hour and a half I went back to ask about my car. They still hadn't looked at it and never had the decency to tell me it was delayed. If they had been honest or at least told me when I was in the waiting room, it would have been fine. It was just all around lousy service.

Not a very pleasant experience. We were getting 3 tires replaced on our trailer that did not fit in their garage, which we understood. We took the tires off ourselves and put them back on, so there wasn't much to do on their part. We were there for 2 hours because there was staff drama going on. No need to go in to detail, but please don't make your internal problems the customers problem. I don't really care who is supposed to bring tires to who, I'm just paying someone to put them on. Front staff was not very friendly, helpful or professional. Also, the women's bathroom was worse than a truck stop.

The guy said I needed a new oil plug, guess what, they didn't have any, they had to go to Orileys auto parts to get one! I thought Wal-Mart was bad, but this place is the black hole of auto service shops. No sense of urgency, concept of time, or organization. Worst service ever! I took my car for a simple inspection. They said they were busy and it would be a while, so I said no problem I'll leave the car and pick it up later. By the next morning I still had not received a call, so I called them. I was told that apparently I left the wrong key. However, they wrote the wrong phone number down so they were unable to get a hold of me. So, I went to drop the correct key off, then I'm told that they don't have anyone there to do the inspection. I went back 2 days later and was once again told that the "technician" was not there.

First impressions are grand and mine was pretty bad. Made sure I had the 2011 Mustang dropped off the night before an 8am appointment for Thursday 9/10/2015. They stated that it would be the first vehicle worked on which it may or may not have. I called to see how everything was going around 3pm (seven hours after the appointment) and discovered that nothing had been worked on at all. Chris stated that he was too busy to call me to inform me that one of the several items I went there to have done couldn't be done and instead of working on the stuff he could handle nothing was taken care of at all. Now I have no confidence in this company and will not be bringing my vehicle here again regardless of the quality of work performed on the vehicle. Alternatively, there is no way I can recommend this place when they don't bother to call an individual before seven hours. Mind you, this isn't some oil change or small thing I'm having done, they're literally going to be getting quite a bit of money from work performed. I'll be carefully reviewing the bill and will be bringing this up with management as its highly unprofessional and simply bad business routines. Thoroughly disappointed as since moving here I was hoping to find a place where I could take my vehicles but clearly this one isn't it! 9/11/2015 Update : They still have the vehicle and I've racked up about a thousand bucks in labor charges so far. Told me to call them back at 4pm and now I need to call them back at 7pm to see if its done. Chris stated they're significantly short staffed and while I agree that sucks, don't tell a customer a time frame that you can't meet. I brought all my parts so we aren't waiting on any parts, just straight labor on doing a few things that for me would take six hours maximum. In this scenario, clearly I should have done the work myself as its taken them almost two complete days and probably going to cost me about a grand or grand and a half in labor. I'll definitely be speaking with corporate about this as its really sad that this company is acting in such a way. Definitely glad I don't own any stock in this company seeing how they're performing and its no wonder they're struggling in the sales aspect. 9/12/2015 Update : Another disappointing day and still have yet to have my vehicle completed by these individuals. Now I'm beginning to get a bit agitated and I usually have quite a bit of patience. First they tell me Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday and now they won't even pick up the phone as I've been on hold for the past twenty minutes. Rings five or so times, goes to an automated please hold and then rings five or so times again. Done this for twenty minutes. Since they didn't bother to update me this evening on when it'll be done I'm going up Tomorrow to raise hell as I'm sick of this nonsense! Enough is enough already!!!

Chris, Noah, and Carl gave me great service when I was there. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and explained what they were doing throughout the process. I couldn't have asked for anything more! I was in the situation of having my gotten a flat tire and then getting a flat on my spare as I was traveling back to NJ Thanksgiving weekend. They weren't able to get a tire that matched my tires, nor did they stock spares, which is understandable, but they were able to pound out the dent that I had gotten in my spare tire rim and took extra care to make sure that my spare tire would get me home. I'm happy to say, that it got me the 115 miles home that I had to drive on it. On top of that, they were kind enough not to charge me for the work. They did this even though they knew I was from out of town and wouldn't be a repeat customer just because they thought it was the right thing to do. Even if they had charged me, I'd be happy with their work. I'm very pleased with their service and highly recommend them to anyone.

I'd like to comment on their work, but I never got that far. I called this Pepboys on a Friday and asked about setting an appointment for the next day. I was told that they do not schedule appointments over the weekends as it is their busiest time of the week and that I would just have to bring my car in and see if they had an opening. Fair enough. So I brought my car in that Sunday. I walked in and was greeted by a mechanic. I asked if they could see my car. He replied that he would "have to ask his boss lady". She was right next to him on a computer with another customer. He repeated what I said and she rudely replied "I can't get anyone to do it today we have too many appointments". I would have had an appointment but was told they don't take appointments on the weekends. Oh well, Pep Boys lost me as a customer.

Went in for a tire rotation and balance. Waited an hour and my truck was still not worked on. I noticed four workers standing around joking and laughing in the work area, including the guy who looked like the manager. I ask the lady behind register of everyone was on break. She said those guys were "master mechanics". Evidently that means they dont know how to rotate tires. She got someone to come see me and he said everyone standing around was off the clock and were allowed to hang around after work. What I thought was weird was that one guy kept working after a while...even though he was "off the clock". It took over two hours for my truck to be ready. Again, tire rotation and balance. I regret coming here. The guy that worked on my truck, Leandor, stayed very active and busy. He just didnt get much help from anyone there. I asked if making an appointment next time would be faster. The answer was "maybe". Thanks Pep Boys!!

I must say that the Team over there at Pep Boys are AWESOME! They saw to it that my brakes on my Lexus LS 460 was repaired correct and with satisfaction. Because of their service, I brought my daughter's Ford Focus, and the mechanic tuned her car up well, and provided some insight, to what additional repairs need to be done over time.

Scheduled 10AM appointment for a brake inspection, my third trip in for the same reason since the brakes were installed. Every time I was told nothing wrong after waiting longer than expected only to have the squeak start up on the way home (brakes did not squeak ever before the new ones were put on). After waiting for 40 minutes and seeing my car sitting in the same place I asked how much longer and the manager told me another 20 minutes before they could even look at it. I reminded him I had an appointment at 10AM, when he started to make up excuses for the delay. I told him I didnt understand his excuses and rather than trying to get me taken care of he says, "let me get your keys so you can leave". I will NEVER use pep boys again and will just pay another company to ensure the brakes are working correctly and fix pep boys mistakes.

I brought my car in to get the tire patched. I specifically asked if they can do it without scratching my black powder coat rims. The manger said yes, but it might happen on accident. What he was saying was,, Look around, look where you’re at, look who’s doing the work. We could care less if we damage your rims in the process. In fact if you bring something nice here we’ll make sure you regret coming here. So I paid $12 to get my rim scratched, which will now cost $100 to fix. I know those machines are not designed to damage the rims, you can take a tire on/off without the damage. If you care enough to take the time. PepBoys in south Chandler could care less. Don’t take anything nice there. Its 24 hours later, now my Tire Pressure Monitoring System does not work on that tire, of course. $12 to fix my flat tire. now i need to spend $100 on a big scratch on the rim and another $80 to get the monitoring system fixed. AGAIN, look at the reviews for this place. Dont think your gonna save a few bucks going here. It will cost you if you bring your vehicle here

While visiting family in Chandler over the weekend the Rear wheel bearing started to become overwhelmingly loud and would have been dangerous to drive home 7hrs with. Although my car on has 44,000 miles it mysteriously went out. We didn't know if somewhere would be open on Super Bowl Sunday and able to get the parts to fix it. But the did, they got it done same day, and an hour and a half earlier than they projected just to get us home. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely have a new respect for Pepboys.

Absolutely terrible service. The very first time I serviced my car there it took them about 4 hours to do a simple oil change. The second time I went there I made an online appointment days in advance to have tires put on my suv and they said to me "Are you sure you need these today because we're very busy". But I told them I am very sure because my tires were very low and it was pouring rain. The third time I went there I made an online appointment to replace a belt tensioner. When I arrived at my appointment time they said "sorry we can't honor your appointment because we are too busy". Take my advice and take your business elsewhere it's a horrible auto repair shop. They lost me as a customer permanently.

Click on my name to see full review. I got an alternator replaced. They put in a faulty part since it failed after only 10 miles. Driving without an alternator will make the batt die so I knew when i got there the batt was low. They told me they could not diagnose the alternator with a dead batt in the car. They also said the batt wouldn't take a charge and it needed to be replaced. the batt for this car is 140 bucks. I knew the bat was only dead since the alt wasn't charging it and it would take a charge. The alt output was only 11-12 volts while car is on clearly showing the alt was bad regardless of the batt status. They refused to do anything without a new batt. I said, start the car and take the batt out. If it stays running and voltage goes back to normal (14+) then we know its the batt, but i knew it would die since i already tried that. (when alt was working i tried in past and car stayed running just fine with no batt) They refused to do that diagnosis. They tested the batt and their machine said Low voltage, charge and retest. Check Alternator belts, charging system and look for large loads on the car. (nothing about the batt being unable to be charged or being the problem) They finally told me that they would charge my batt for an hour and if the batt took a charge they could determine it was the alt. I didn't want to wait an hour since the batt is not needed for alt diagnosis but since they refused to do anything else I let them take the time to charge the batt. After 1.5 hour they told me the did a test and the batt had 0 CCA and would not be able to tart the car. He showed me the slip of paper saying that. He obviously lied since i turned the key and the car started right up. (No struggle at all, batt was fully charged) They then claimed the batt was putting a huge load on the alt and that was causing the voltage drop. (after we had agreed if the batt took a charge it was the alt.) I again suggested removing batt and testing alt without my batt. they again said the car cant run without a batt (which i know form experience it can, providing the alt works). I asked them to take the alt out and put it on the test machine. They said they involves to much labor and the alt is not faulty. They kept insisting the only way i can rule out the batt as the problem is replacing it. At this point 2 mechanics and a manger were involved, all insisting i spend money on a battery i don't need. Even if the batt was bad, it doesn't change the fact that the alt was bad to. There are plenty of ways to diagnose a bad alt even if the batt is bad to. After about 4 hours of trying to convince them to just replace the broken alternator another mechanic over heard the discussion. He came over to my car (which was now out of the shop since they refused to repair the broken alt.) and diagnosed a failed alternator or failed alternator control unit. (voltage regulator.) I didnt consider the voltage regulator, but we both clearly knew the batt was not to blame. He then hooked up some equipment and diagnosed the voltage regulator was fine. He agreed to replace the alternator without his managers or other mechanics agreement. As soon as it was replace the voltage went right up to 14.2 where it should be. He also used a waveform meter to ensure the new alt was working correctly. The car has worked and started 100% since then. The battery that had "0 CCA" has started the car with no problems for a week. My biggest problem with this whole experience was that they tried to force me to buy a $140 battery that i did not need. The mechanic also lied and showed me results that could not possibly have come form my battery. Someone with less mechanical experience then myself would have been forced into spending 140 bucks on something they didn't need. They were completely dishonest and it took me 4 hours to convince them to do a 30 min repair. I will never have service there again since they don't stand behind their warranty. Since then, the car has had no problems proving my diagnosis was correct.

Went in to replace two front tires and get an alignment done. The store was filled with staffs but all were hiding behind parts rack behind counters. There was a staff typing on a computer at the tire service station so I walked up and being polite I waited for him to finish before asking for help. Well, he finished and walked off. So I went to one the main counter and waited in line. I could see the staff behind the racks and they can see me but exchanging eye contact was all we did. After a few minutes a mechanic came from the back and rang me up. I bought two tires and TOLD them to write it down that I wanted the two front tires replaced. Well, 7 HOURS later I got the call to pick up my car. If you guessed, then you guessed right. THEY REPLACED THE TWO BACK TIRES!!! Customer service sucks hard ass. I called a few hours after dropping off the car to check on it's status and talked to at least 4 staff. Waited on hold for 28 minutes of the 30 it took for someone to tell me when it should be done. You feel an awkward tension every time you are in there, never relaxed. Will not come back.

I went to pep boys in July 2015 for a routine oil change. My appointment was at 2:00 PM. I arrived at 1:30 PM. After waiting 5 hours for an oil change which was highly overpriced, around $40.00 I was able to leave. About 10 days later I noticed steam coming from the car I checked under the hood to find that the pep boy mechanic either forgot to close the radiator cap or did it purposely in order to charge me more money. It nearly ruined my head gasket, and or engine, which could cost over $ 10,000 very easily. I think that these ppl at pep boys are culpable and calculating. So, the next time anyone wants to get ripped off for $10,000+ DOLLARS, try your local PEP BOYS on Laurens Rd in Greenville SC. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

These people don't know what they're doing when it comes to engine service. I have no grudge with them...just speaking from experience. I had my 2008 VW Jetta brought in with the check engine light on. I was pretty sure it was a vacuum leak and possibly in the PCV check valve. However after making me wait 3 hours and they said I had to replace my entire intake air system. I asked whether the mechanic could show me the leak...They made me wait another hour and said there was no leak or at least they couldn't find any. I asked the mechanic specifically whether he checked the PCV valve and he said he did. They wanted me to replace my MAF sensor which they said costs about 200$. I took it to AAMCO for a second opinion and the guy looked at it and said it was the PCV valve. He showed me the old torn diaphragm too. Cost me about 40 bucks to get it done. If you think that's it, pepboys prices are inflated way above other stores even for small things like wheel alignments and oil changes. I suggest you take your car to the Goodyear auto service center (for oil and tyre services) or the AAMCO (for transmission and engine services) Mauldin

**AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE** **DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE UNLESS IT MEANS CERTAIN DEATH!** **AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE** **DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE UNLESS IT MEANS CERTAIN DEATH!** On 04/21/16 I was traveling from Charlotte NC to Atlanta GA and my TrailBlazer stopped on the side of the freeway and wouldn't restart. While waiting for the tow truck to come (approx 1.5 hrs) my car battery died due to the hazards being on and charging my phone. I had AAA tow me to Pep Boys at 2418 Laurens Rd in Greenville SC. Upon arrival, I explained the situation to the service writer and informed him that the battery was only discharged due to the long wait with the hazard lights on, but that it wasn't related to the problem. He said: "Ok, my guy will check it and we'll know something within the hour." He came back to tell me I needed a new battery. I again reiterated the fact that the problem wasn't battery related...but he insisted, so I authorized a replacement battery. He NEVER discussed battery pricing, warranty info or any features and benefits for the battery...just installed whatever battery he liked. A few minutes later, the service writer came back to say: "Welp, the battery didn't fix it, so he's going to check a few more things." At this point, I knew things were going south (No pun intended) so I left the waiting room to go watch the "technician" work on my car. He literally LOOKED at my fuse box...as in, with his eyeballs only and said: "You need a fuel pump." No tools, no multi-meter, no volt meter nothing but his eyeballs!! The problem with this is that the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank! I asked: "How do you know?" To which he replied: "There's no fuel pressure at the fuel rail." I said: "I just had a fuel pump module installed in February, not even 3,000 miles ago." He says: "You must've got a bad one or something because this one isn't working. If you want us to fix it, it'll be roughly $1100.00" I said: "OK fine, let me make a few calls and I'll give you my answer. I proceeded to contact the repair facility who installed my fuel pump to ask about warranty. After looking me up in their system, they verified I was still covered under warranty for parts and labor. I told the Pep Boys employee to leave my vehicle as is and that AAA would tow it home for me. He then asked if I wanted to keep the new battery "since the other one was 'old' anyway." I said: "No, go ahead and put the old one back in." I had to rent a car to finish my trip which cost me $287.14 I had to pay Pep Boys $99.52 for a diagnosis and I lost HOURS of driving time dealing with this. When I returned home from my trip, I had the TrailBlazer taken back to the facility where the fuel pump was installed at 7:30 AM. They didn't open until 9AM. They called back at around 945-10AM to tell me that the car was fixed. The only problem was the fuel pump relay. It was a $17 part. It took less than a minute to install. That's NOT an exaggeration, it literally takes LESS than a minute to install. I called Pep Boys to ask for a refund on my "diagnosis" and was told the manager would call me back. He/she never did. I called 1-800-PEPBOYS and was PROMISED a return call within 24-48 hrs from Ken Brown who they identified as the area manager. That NEVER happened. I called 1-800-PEPBOYS AGAIN, and was told by a heavily accented person whom I could BARELY understand, that there were "no supervisors in the entire building." STILL nobody's called. I'm guessing nobody cares. I can't see me ever stepping a foot into another Pep Boys as long as I live. Sorry for the long post, there's even more to the story...but this is the condensed version. **AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE** **DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE UNLESS IT MEANS CERTAIN DEATH!**

Absolutely terrible. I got a flat and was kind enough to bring the actual rim itself in (I didn't have the car towed, no discount for doing this) for a SIMPLE FLAT REPAIR. A nail was dead center in the tread and totally repairable. A 15 minute job TOPS. Not only did they keep me waiting there for 4 hours, but they weren't even able to fix the flat! (I used to do this for a living, and this may or may not have been their fault.. but I've fixed hundreds of tires with MUCH WORSE holes in them. Some places ruin the tire to try to sell you a new one.) I saw them working on cars that came in hours AFTER I brought my rim, probably because they all get paid on commission and the 4 tire jobs pay the best. In any event, after the 4 hour wait for a simple 15 minute job , they told me I needed a new tire and offered to take 30 dollars off for my wait, so I said fine just get me the tire and get me the hell out of here. After all that, to add insult to injury they mounted THE WRONG TIRE. I had to have them take it off again and refund my money, and they couldn't even refund my credit card because they were closing the store, so they had to give me cash! Not a huge deal but just reinforces how long I was there (Till friggen closing!) and should have been in and out of there HOURS BEFORE. I even made an appointment on their website 2 HOURS BEFORE AND STILL GOT THE SHAFT! I also needed 4 lug nuts and they only had one, so they tried to send me across the entire damn city to another pep boys when AutoZone 5 minutes away on foot had what I needed, not to mention a competent staff that was able to help me in no time at all. So after that nightmare, what do I have now? A rim in my girlfriends trunk with NO TIRE ON IT and my car STILL sitting on a Jack in the street! My entire Sunday wasted. Don't even get me started about how dirty the place was.. The waiting room, the bathrooms, all filthy. No soap at all in the bathroom. The parking lot has used and leaking oil containers all over the ground just thrown there and ran over by the scumbags that used them. Also some "customers" were in there trying to scam other customers into buying their gift cards.. Some were shady thugs and I kept feeling like the place was going to get robbed and I'd never send my family there aside from all of this. It's just a crap hole all around and I'll never step foot in another Pep Boys again, let alone allow any of those idiots to come within 10 feet of my car. I wish there were an option for NEGATIVE 5 STARS. 1 doesn't even do it justice.

I've used Pep Boys for tires and therefore can get repairs to tires at no cost if it is patchable. Had a nail in tire, should be patchable. Made appointment on line, showed up and they said they never got the appointment. They told me the on-line reservation doesn't always go through but then the person helping me looked at the monitor and stated my name. Obviously went through somewhere. Anyway he said they were short staffed and wouldn't be able to help that day so I made an appointment for two days later. Show up that day and was told there was no record of the appointment I had made in person. Was also told they were backed up and that if my appointment was even there, it would be a few hours before they could look at it. So why have an appointment system if your appointment can be bumped for hours? They should just tell you to show up when they open and hope for the best. Anyway, went to Mattei Tire at Marvine and Oregon and paid to get a patch but they did it right away and were super nice.

Set an appointment for 6, got there about 530, was told I'd have to wait for my oil change, no problem there. I was up for the 19.99 change and the man helping me insisted I had to do the synthetic oil change for 78 plus. I said I didn't have to do that and wanted the other one, he said I had no choice. I said cancel my appointment and left. Never going back.

Without a doubt the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. I went in the store around 5:30 pm because I needed to purchase one new tire for my car. The man at the service counter, John, was obnoxious and told me, "Oh we can't do that today!" and walked away. I stood there dumbfounded. When he finally returned from socializing with the heavy set store cashier woman, I told him the store doesn't close for another 2-1/2 hours, and how long could it possibly take to throw on a single tire?! He told me there was one car ahead of me. Fine, then I'll purchase the tire and take it elsewhere to have it mounted. The tire that was listed on the website as being "in stock" at this store location apparently wasn't in stock, but the more expensive one was in stock. No surprise there. After agreeing to purchase the overpriced Falken tire, I was told it would take another 5 minutes to "go grab it down for you." Well 20 minutes later, still no tire. This guy apparently "forgot" THAT QUICK he had to grab the tire for me and continued walking around the store socializing, having a personal conversation, for those 20 minutes! His reason why he forgot: "I have like 4 things I've been trying to get done for the past hour!" -- REALLY?! You definitely fooled me. By the way he was socializing, he had all the time in the world and nothing to do. When he returned with the tire (after not being able to find it for quite some time), I saw him place it in the back where the cars were being serviced. He came back out and said "did you get the tire?" WHAT? At this point I felt like I was on the show Punk'd. UNBELIEVABLE!

Watch out ladies... a bunch of scammers and crooks working in the service department. I took my car to get an inspection done there. It passed the emissions test but they said it failed safety test. They told me two things were wrong. I asked the guy to write down exactly what was wrong so i can tell my husband and my mechanic. He refused which immediately had me suspicious. When i went to get my receipt there was a print out with eight things wrong. I took the paper and left and went to my mechanic. My mechanic checked the vehicle and could not find anything wrong. We went back to pep boys and asked the mechanic to explain what exactly was wrongwith the car. He denied what originally said what was wrong with the car and tried to point out something different. My impression was that he tried to take me for a fool and get me to pay him to fix my car which didnt need fixing in the first place. He refused to pass my car.... i took my car to another place and it passed fine... i cant imagine how much people these guys are pulling these stunts on and its a shame for them and the company. And quite frankly there needs to be some sort of reprimand for these guys at this particuliar store. I will never buy anything from there again or will i take any of my cars back.

I have been going to this pepboys for a few years now. Usually I am there to buy an air filter or get my yearly inspection done. For major repairs, I go to a different mechanic. They have always charged me fairly. During my recent inspection, they passed the inspection and didn't making any long recommendation list like most shops do. They just gave a receipt for the work and that's it. Waiting time can be long depending on when you visit them but that's probably something they can't control too much. I would say most people have positive experience at this place. There are only a handful of customers with negative experience but they tend to be the ones posting reviews.

THE GOOD: Overall turnaround time was fairly good for the repair I was in for (serpentine belt replacement, tensioner pulley replacement, and an oil change). End price for everything done was fair enough (more on that in a second). Everyone there was professional, courteous, and answered any questions I had, and kept me in the loop the entire time. The tech used a part I had already bought (the serpentine belt), rather than making me buy a shop part. The bad: Initial, quoted, price for parts was almost ludicrously high. Summary: I went in for a diagnosis of a squeal coming from the engine, and this was completed quickly with a minimum of fuss. The initial quoted price with parts and labor for the suggested repair was fairly high, almost 250 for the repair alone. When I pointed out that one of the parts, the tensioner assembly, could be had for roughly 60 dollars at a local parts store the gentleman I was dealing with seemed incensed by that and was rather dismissive of me. I spoke with the tech who was servicing me vehicle and he was very forthcoming with answers for me. I decided to go ahead with the repair and get an oil change while I was at it. About 3 hours later I was informed that the requested service had been completed, and everything checked out. To the front mans credit, he did discount the tensioner assembly (which coincidentally was the exact same part I could get at a local parts shop for roughly half the cost they initially quoted me) to just about the price I could have gotten it locally. The labor cost was fair considering the time spent on getting everything sorted, and I would gladly have the same mechanic who worked on my vehicle do so again at any time. Overall, though my initial impression was somewhat negative, the team at this pep boys made it right and got the work done fairly quickly and with professionalism. Would recommend this shop to people looking to get work done on their vehicle.

I went there and they first of all replaced the wrong tire, they then tried to tell me that actually that tire also needed to be replaced, so suddenly I have two defective tires apparently. The manager then tried to show me the original tire as defective (claiming it was the second tire), but one of his employees called him out and said that was not the tire on the second wheel. He finally agreed to put the tires on the right wheels and that only one was defective. No idea if an honest mistake or not, but the whole process took me two hours to resolve and the overall stress levels were high and the experience was very poor. I now use Discount Tire for everything, they appear to be easier to work with so far.

I went in and told them the rotors on my car were bad. They told me it was my cv axle, so I paid a lot of money to replace that. Didn't fix it. Took it in again and they told me my engine and transmission mounts were bad. I got a second opinion and they told me it was my rotors (what I thought in the first place). Will never take my car to them again.

Horrible customer service in parts department. Brian was on the phone for 30 minutes with 4 customers waiting to talk to him. Once he hung up the phone rang again and asked us to hold on once more. When I finallyfinally got to speak to him he proceeded to tell me it would take at least an hour to look at a tire...after the 30 minutes waiting there...WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE...Go to Discount Tire next door.

Came in at 9:00 am needing a tire. They did not have my fairly common size in stock in any brand. I was told that they would have the replacement tire in by noon, so I ordered it. After ordering I was told that it would be 3:00pm, I called at 4:30 to make sure the tire was there and installed. Then I was told the tire didn't make it and would be there at 6:00pm, they should have warned me. I understand hiccups, but 3 time changes with no phone call is ridiculous. Stay away from here if you're having an emergency or crunched for time.

Took my car to get the brakes bled because I installed a new master cylinder and brake booster. Said the booster was bad. Bought a new one and took it to the to install. Picked the car up and it was making a vacuum noise so I took it back. Said they had multiple people drive the car and could hear the noise. Also the mechanic left the bleed valve rubber covers off so clearly they are careless and have no attention to detail. There was also grease on my center console from the mechanics arm. My car is now worse off than when I brought it in and they won't refund any of my money. Take your car someplace else for service. I as a weekly customer for parts and will never be back.

Horrible experience! I took my car in for an alignment. I was told my car would be done at 10am, leaving me just enough time to get to work. At 10am I got a call from the manager saying it would be another hour. At that point I couldn't wait another hour and had to take bus to work. I barely made it on time. While I was at work, I got a call saying my car was ready. I told her that I get off at the same time they close so my only option was to pick it up in the morning. I show up at 9am to pick up my car and they're CLOSED! They open at 7am, but no one is there. I called customer service and even they didn't know why the store was closed. I called customer service and they didn't know why the store was closed. I was told I would receive a call when they had more information. The call never came. I ended up calling the next morning and they were open. I got no apology or anything for the extreme inconvenience or lack of professionalism

Burien Pep Boys suck! Never again. The Tech went to pull the car in and came back in claiming my battery was dead. I asked him if he pushed the clutch in and he exclaimed "of course I have a manual too". The other tech took the keys went out and it started right up, then told me the other guy was incompetent, nice to know since the other guy was the one servicing my car. The manager was rude and un-friendly to customers for no reason, know it all type. My vehicle was parked at the front door and ready to go and I was standing at the counter ready to pay. Instead of ringing me up, the guy started looking up tires for someone that just walked in with a potential tire sale leaving me waiting. When I asked if I could pay, the manager said rudely, " we only have one computer." The new customer offered to wait his turn. Poor service, especially once they realize that your only interested in the oil change and not all those not needed recommendations.

Super bad experiance i ever had. At burien, wa store i brought a car batter from them with 3 years free replacement waranty, after 1 year car start behaving like dead battery every 3 to 4 days. i went to store and guy name "JESSIE" said battery is ok ur car may have short circuit. I came back but slowly slowly car stop even cranking even after turn off engion, i went back to store and same guy said same thing and offer me to check my whole electric system for $ 90.00/Hrs. And he said it cd take about 4hrs. So it means to spend $360.00, I decide to nt check my ststem with them. I came back and went to local auto repair shop owned by maxican guy. He take a look and said its battery problem, i said its nt battery i already checked with pepboys, he laughed and said so you believe them? He pulled out battery front of my eyes and i shocked battery was leaking and there was no fluid in the battery. I got so mad and went to back pepboys told them battery is leaking so thats why its not starting my car. Mr "JESSIE" got mad on me said bad words to me and said he can only pull battery and see if i pay them $90.00 diagnose fee. I called company straight and then they replaced my battery.company said they will reveiw this case will call me back, but i never get call back from them. Since then i decide to never go there again. They was planing to charge me about $ 360.00 for nothing. And one thing that local shop guy did not charge me a penny for check and pull out and then reinstall it.

Took my car in for an oil change and when I left the guy said I needed to get the rear shocks replaced. Told me that if I didn't do it soon I was running the risk of blowing a tire and causing serious damage to my car. He made it sound incredibly urgent. I then took the car to Discount Tire and Dennis Road Automotive and they both confirmed that the shocks were perfectly fine. Coincidentally, Pep Boys had a special going on for shock replacements. I kind of wonder if someone was trying to meet their quota.

Poor customer service!!!!! High prices. First time I went great service. My car was indicating that the heat was going up. The did the test and fixed the problem. Went again a couple of weeks after for oil change . told them the was having temperature indicator was lighting up again. Thought they have cheked it! Next day same problem!! PLUS the engine is accelerated all the time! I did not have this problem before! In other words... It came out of the mechanic worst that it went in! Went immediately back and interesting they do not have my whole client history in the system. The employee or manager was treating me like I was making up the information. Totally rude and had an arrogant behavior. Like is IT would never fail. I would not recommend this place for overprice and lack of customer service.

I don't understand all of the horrible comments about Pep Boys in Dallas off of Forest Lane. EVERYTIME I go to Pep Boys I always get EXCELLENT service. I can trust what they say about my car; and enjoy it when I hear, "nothing extra needs to be done to your car at this time". Whereas, at "other places" you never walk out with just what you went in for; it's always something else. I have had my KIA Optima for 4 years and Pep Boys has been the only place to touch my vehicle. When something goes wrong, it goes to Pep Boys. I just passed 100k miles, and nothing major has gone wrong with my car. (knock on wood) My boys at Pep Boys take care of my car. Thank you Larry Ward for an efficient Oil Change today; and to the Service Manager, Christopher Garner, for always making sure I am well taken care of. #pepboysforlife

They woukd not look at my car again so i left. I made it maybe 10 min down the road when i heard funny noise and smoke. My pully thT the belt was on had totally came out and started to spin into my coolant resivor. Now mind u i spent 300$ on a belt and now its worse than before. They told me i would have to pay more money to get it fixed. These men should not work on cars if they do not really know or do the labor properly.

Never take your car to Pep Boys if you value your LIFE!! Especially store #1653 in Glen Mills, PA 19342 Took 2 different appointments for my car to be misaligned after waiting HOURS each time. The 2nd appointment I showed up for I was waiting for 4 and a half hours. Absolutely INCOMPETENT and charged me for 2 alignments ($180 total) because they couldn't figure out how to align my car. The real kicker is....I almost CRASHED my car driving home because of how bad it was swerving when I gave it gas. I have no idea how this place is still in business and hasn't had a LAWSUIT yet. It's very clear all they care about is STEALING your MONEY and getting you as quickly out the door as possible with no regards to your SAFETY. They pay their mechanics flat rate so they make more money the quicker they push you through the door so this all makes sense.

I had a very unpleasant experience here. I drove from Dublin, CA in stop and go traffic because they advertised on their website to change my oil with a free tire rotation. They did not show any information about tire tread requirements. They also took off my tires to check my break pads because the light sensor was on in my car. The woman who charged me for the oil change (Which cost more than my regular oil changer, which shows that Pep boys DOES NOT do everything for less) said that there were other issues with my car so she showed me the price estimating about $1,300 . I told her my father was good with cars so he would fix it instead. She then went to tell the repair men to stop working on the car. I asked her why she had them fix my car without my permission and even having the audacity to take apart my car without my consent hence the fact that I went the for only two things. 1. An oil change and 2. A free tire rotation. All together I waited about 3 hours just so they could change my oil and put my tires back on. I am never going there again and I hope the rest of you don't as well!!!

I received a simple oil change in Delaware and the tech that worked on my car did not replace the drain plug the proper way. My parents live in Cambridge Md and i travel back and forth often. On this specific trip my engine decided to seize up due to the lack of oil in my engine. I was stuck in Cambridge and no way of getting home, I had to have my best Friend drive to pick me up. when my parents mechanic in Cambridge diagnosed the truck and informed me I needed a new engine I was shocked due to the fact my motor only had 70K miles on it and was maintained regularly, with no prior issues. I was told by the manager at the pep boys on kirkwood hwy in Wilmington de, that if i would like my car fixed by them they would have to get the car in their possession which seems ridiculous because they cant manage an oil change let alone the thought of replacing my motor. The Mechanic is preparing me a letter with everything that he has found and Diagnosis, he is also taking many pictures. Im a hard working guy. I save my money and i bust my ass. i don't like being played with and not having my many phone calls returned. my next step is going to the news and getting a lawyer, a simple task like an oil change should have been done properly and there is no reason for me to have to replace a motor in my truck. Hope to hear form someone, and soon!

This place is down the street for me, so I end up coming here for routine parts because it's so close. That is definitely the only reason to ever come here. The people who work here hate their jobs and certainly couldn't care less about the customer. I've shopped here about a dozen times and about 50% of the time something negative happens. During my most recent trip there was no one at the register for about 10 minutes and after asking 5 different workers who were just standing if they could check me out, finally someone "volunteered". I've had work by their shop fix a tire and certainly will never come back. Took a whole day and after showing the guy exactly where the leak was he still couldn't "find it" and I had to come back to show him again. Total amateurs. If you value your car, time and money, I highly recommend you go elsewhere.

Brought In my sonata yesterday at 1pm for a brake job and a brake fluid exchange. They told me it would take 2 hours give or take a half hour. I didn't leave till 6:30pm with my car. I had to drive some where and turns out that car was vibrating on driver side any time I pressed on the brake pedal , obviously a bad brake job performed on their end. No problems with the car before I brought it in but the breaks wearing out. I brought it in this morning and was told that they are back up and they will get to my car after 10am. It is now 11:50pm. I will give them 10 minutes to call me with an update on how they plan on fixing their bad brake job. If not i wI'll call them aND start gething really annoyed aND upset. Update: I called pepboys only to find out that my car has not been even seen nor pulled into the lift to see it. They couldn't give me an estimated time that it would be seen or worked on. They are aware that it is a repeat vehichle from yesterday and they know why. You would think that they would make this type of situation more of a priority since this will easily make the customer upset. Especially if they felt they were being ignored especially after a bad job being done on their first visit.

I went to get my car state inspected, and they gave me a sticker which was printed 5 years ago. I was caught by the police. I went back to this pep boys four times to get it right. And I have waited like one and a half hours. And when I left, finally the clerk boy complained to me that I did not come the other day. Well... I work. Just like they cannot get it right for me, I had to come four times, and I had to wait one and a half hours because their work shifts did not work out and they are short of the employees, I also have schedules and work. I do not know why I need to be complained by him since I am the customer who paid and have been flexible as much as I could to fix it even though they have been so much time and money from me. I have been cooperative because I need to work on my ticket of this. I will avoid going back for any repair if possible.

most of the people that gave a bad reviews are just impatient or wasn't able to control the people that work there like how they wanted to. when i was there, some guy came and left. before he left they told him if he leave with the car, they will not put his place in line on hold. people will have to skip him and when he gets back, they will put his car back on the line he will not be able to skip. he accepted and left. when he came back he started an argument about how they cant put him at the end of the line even though he was told that will happen, he didn't care he just wanted to have it his way. my point is, they operate on strict rules which is programmed to fit all customers. lets say you were the one your car was going to get fixed and he came and demanded that he need to skip you because he was here first and left, how would you feel. they get a lot of jobs. meaning a lot of people go there. do you want them to rush and make a mistake? what if it was your car they made a mistake on and you end up dying from it. if you don't have the patient to wait to get you car properly fixed, don't go there. and since most people gave bad reviews due to their incapability to wait, most people go there with the intent to find something bad. even if they act nice, the person will find a bad thing to talk about like there were a lot of people. of course there were because they do a good job.i went there to get my brakes checked and fixed and they did a wonderful job at that. i went around noon when there were not a lot of people. you should do the same. have a good day.

Worst experience ever. 6 hours to change tires, oil and do the inspection. Refused to do alignment on the car because they're not equipped to serve mercedes (83' diesel, probably the most basic and simple mechanics ever). Poured in wrong oil type. Said they did drain it and replaced with the correct type. Not sure. Car had a huge gash on the passenger side as when I came to pick up the car. They said they watched the security camera video and didn't see anything happen. Car won't stop idling when key is in off position because there's too much oil in it. Need to go back tomorrow sort this one out and take my business elsewhere.

I have been going there for many years. Their service got worse and worse. They seem short handed. Wait time got longer and longer. I usually bring my car first thing in the morning as I leave closed by. I finally decided to use the local mechanic because their customer service is so bad. Went there to get an inspection and was told no one was available to do inspection until noon. The mechanic in the back told me the guy that does inspection won't be in until noon and asked me to talk to the person at the counter. Went to the store front and spoke with the guy behind the counter. He told me his inspection machine is down and won't be really until noon. If they are planning to make up stores to tell their customer, at least they should get their lies straight. I finally got fed up with all their BS and went to a local mechanic. I got my inspection done in less than an hour and was so satisfied with their service and explanation and took their recommendation and replacement all my 4 tires. PepBoys in Bayside just lost $600 worth of business and another loyal customer. I will never use them again. If they keep up this kind of horrible service, they won't be in business for long. I ordered parts online for pickup in the store and promptly received an email saying the parts were ready for pickup. 4 hours later I drive to the store and the part manager tells me they don't have all of my order. He tells me their system is flawed and I'm supposed to wait for a second confirming email. How is the customer supposed to know that when the first email says come in the parts are ready? If the system is truly flawed and the manager was doing his job he would check the ACTUAL part stock status as soon as the order came in and then call or email the customer to save him a trip if something is not in stock.

The most incompetent store I have EVER been to. I special ordered fog lamps for my vehicle. I was told a few business days for delivery. After multiple visits over several MONTHS I was told they were not there (after being promised they had been overnighted). I came in for a refund because enough was enough. Low and behold I'm told they have them. I am handed the box, head over to the service counter, and when they open it there is only one. I am told that I only ordered one. I have a receipt for one and a receipt for another…both orders placed at the same time. I was treated VERY poorly and lied to multiple times. In the end, the cashier was so incompetent he couldn't figure out how to refund my orders. He told me they were both refunded and that I was all set, but when I got home and checked my statement the incompetent individual had only refunded one. Keep in mind that they have two different prices because one was with the housing hookup as well. I finally had to go the route of a credit card complaint. I should have known they were awful when they messed up the installation of my windshield wipers a few weeks earlier, but I thought it was an honest mistake. This place has NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They couldn't even figure out what I meant when I said I have a model year 2004 that I purchased in 2003. AWFUL customer service. Awful attitudes. Awful location. Avoid at all costs.

Horrible!! If I could give no stars, I would! Totally incompetent and they took forever despite only one customer ahead of me. It took over 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. Then I noticed the car handling funny and found the lug nuts loose on one wheel!! I will never go there again!!

Slowest oil change EVER. I've come here 4 times over the span of 2 years and it's always taken a MINIMUM of 1 hour for my oil changes. I made an appointment this time and still sat for over an hour waiting. I'm not even exaggerating. What's the point of appointments if they can't even get you in on time? Wasted over 4 hours of my life sitting at this place waiting.

So I made an appointment to get my car inspected for today at 2PM. I was a little concerned because the guy who I made the appointment with sounded like he was half asleep but he took all my info and said I was good to go. Sure enough, I show up and there's no appointment. Not only that, the guy at the front desk hardly even looks up from his computer because "he's already doing more than two things at once" and the other just kind of shrugs; no apology no attempt to make it right. I guess I'm luck I didn't get my car worked on there if this represents their level of caring and attention to detail.

I called Pep Boys to make sure research some tires that I needed for my car. While the car was there I was also going to have a full oil change and inspection done to the vehicle. I was satisfied with the answers I received so I scheduled my car to have the oil change, inspection, and all four tires replaced. 16 hours later, I am informed that the they only have ONE tire in the entire building that will fit my car and instead of the bill being $378 it will be $800. Also, if you want the buy three get one free deal they have running you have to purchase the $56. road hazard policy on the tire so technically you aren't getting ANY of them for free. When I told them to just forget the tires, just do the oil change and the inspection I find out that an oil change is $39.99...WHAT???? I can go across the street to Jiffy Lube for 19.00. LOTS AND LOTS OF DECEPTION going on here, and highway robbery to boot. I will NEVER take another vehicle to Pep Boys for anything and I recommend that you don't either!!!!! Addendum, I just called there and asked for the same tire I had asked for yesterday and Ivan told me they had them in stock for $432 total installed....HMMMMMM really ??? Because Frank told me you didn't have them just an hour ago and you only had the $800 tires???? BUYER BEWARE

While visiting family in York, PA for Christmas our rental car had a flat tire. It was Christmas Eve afternoon when we called the Pep Boys on Louck's road and were told to bring it in by 2:15pm and they would be able to look at the tire. We arrived prior to 2pm and proceeded to be treated poorly, having the technician make a sarcastic comment "don't they have better things to do? " While in the waiting room you could hear the technician continue to complain loudly about having to work on the car, slamming tools down and slamming doors on the car. The tire was fixed, which allowed us to go to our family Christmas and on to church. However the next morning we noticed a dent in the drivers door that could only have happened if someone slammed the door open and hit something. It was pretty clear that this must have happened while in the Pep Boy shop since we had not parked near anything that would have done this type damage and we knew it wasn't there prior to taking it into the shop. It was very disappointing to have a vehicle damaged and been treated so disrespectfully, will not be returning to Pep Boy. Hopefully this may bring to light the poor customer treament so others won't have to experience the same.

I was convinced to buy really expensive tires ( $150+ per tire - Falkien PT 722 ) by their service technician named Dustin Krout. This company is a scam. Less than two years, and the tires are total garbage. They slip in rain and hydroplane on the highway. I almost got into an accident because they slipped as I was pulling out to turn. I was told I have a 60.000 mile warranty on these tires, which would be prorated up to the mileage. Which was a LIE. The "assistant service manager" Jim and someone else proceeded to tell me too bad, it's only tread wear that is covered for 60.000 miles. So unless the tires are bald they wont do anything for it. Plus I paid for their "performance brake pads and rust resistant rotors" and they rusted and the brakes grind horribly. This company is scam, and has caused nothing but problems for my vehicle with their cheap pathetic parts. After paying over ~$1300 for these "services" and "parts" avoid them, their technicians are unintelligent, and the company scams. Not to mention, previously dealing with this company and their associates using negative slurs towards LBGT, around customers which is what my previous review was about. Avoid them, use autozone or a local shop, this company sells cheap parts and rips people off on labor.

I purchase a a.c. compressor and I had issues with it and had to return it several times. The guys at Pep boys figured out the problem and I'm keeping cool again. During this process, I wrote a bad review, and Brandon reaching out to me, is the reason for this review. Great Job guys!

Worst service ever! All I had was an allotment and my tires rotated. They tightened my lug nuts to where I couldn't get them undone on one tire then it seems to me the other side was hand tightened. I received Excellent Service from the Pep Boys on 44th. My car kept dying on me. I took it to several mechanics one replaced my alternator, another said I needed a new battery. After all that I took it to Pep Boys ( For another battery because the car drained my battery again) and the new manager Dan found out that the wires that were connected to my alternator were the problem. Not only did he give me a great price after several discounts ( one for being a Senior) his work is guaranteed and he gave me peace of mind. I feel safe driving my car again. I definitely will use Pep Boys again.

I was stuck on 81 and got towed here 30 minutes before they closed. Even though they were so close to closing they still gave my car a quick look. Ended up needing a timing belt. The staff stayed late and fixed my car right then and there. Didn't even hesitate. I had just got a new belt and alternator a week prior at a shop in watertown called Get-r-done. The staff here showed me what the mechanic at get-r-done did wrong and allowed me to take a picture and wrote a comment on my recipe to take back to Get-r-done and have them reimburse me for all the work Pep Boys did. They turned my very stressful situation into a pleasant one. I'm very thankful for the staff at this facility for being so understanding and helpful. I have been to this pepboys many times in the last 9 years. I always come back because of the people. From the parts department to the service desk. My favorite person to see there is Joe G. assistant service manager. He knows who I am and I know I can trust him with my car and more importantly with my family's safety. If he tells me something about my car.....that's the way it is, never second guess this man. He is the most honest service writer I have ever delt with. 5 stars for this garage and 10 stars for Joe G.

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS!!! first of all my car broke down on the side of the road and i had it towed to pep boys. When I made it there they hooked it up to a machine and they came to me and said I needed a new engine since the cylinder head was broken and my timing belt was broken. Mind you I just got a new motor put in last year so it did not make since to me. So when I went for the "quote" of how much things would be for the new engine , it came up to over 4,000 dollars. When I asked them if they was sure, they said the only way they'll know for sure is if they open it up and look at it and that would cost me around 1700 dollars and if there was a problem with it I'll have to pay 1700 dollars plus the 4,000 dollars to "have it fixed with putting in a new motor" So I called other places to get different quotes and they were wayyyyy cheaper than they was so I got my car towed there and they said all it was was the timing belt and I didnt need a new motor. I was Very happy that they took the time to look at it them selves and NOT RUN A STUPID MACHINE to tell them what the problem is . Pep boys had me in tears and took advantage of a young female. They are scam artist and only care about is the money. They are wrong and I will never come to another pep boys again. People like them give mechanics a bad name. DO NOT COME HERE!

I've been a pepboys customer for a long time and never have I experienced anything like what I've experienced over the last few days. I got 2 new rear tires put on my Santa Fe and the lugs were left loose on both rear tires. Warped my rotors and messed up my brakes. After calling customer relations they tell me to bring my car to the nearest one and they would fix the problem. Well that was 4 days ago and now they are trying to avoid the blame. My family and I could be dead right now if the worst happend and a tire fell off on the interstate, but thank god it didn't. Right now I'm getting nowhere. I will be following up with this through the right channels. Very dissapointed customer.

I called the day before confirmed that I had an appointment for a oil change I was assured by pep boys staff that I had a appointment. When arriving at pep boys at my 7 am appointment no one was there to greet me in the service center, I walked into the store part attempt to get checked in the staff couldn't find enough oil to complete my oil change, she had 4 quarts couldn't locate another one (I'm thinking your an auto parts store how do you not have sufficient amount of oil) after the clerk ran around the store searching for 30 min. I was then told there was only 1 mechanic on site and she wasn't sure of when he would be able to get to me and he he had a bay full of cars already so what I want to do I could wsit for a hour. How in the world do you make appointments for customers and don't have enough staff. This location is not professional. I was very disappointed with the lack of service that I received. I ended up leaving after all this 45 min latter without any service being done went straight down to tire kingdom on Newberry road and was greeted with excellent customer service even with the steady flow of customers they got me in and out in less than 1 hour..... When I need a small car part, I don't shop around. So, I don't know how Pep Boys compares to others in pricing. BUT, the people at Pep Boys are AMAZING and CARING! I went in to buy a brake light, something I've never done or replaced before. I had fast and courteous service from the central area lady. She gave me exactly what I needed. After spending roughly 30 mins trying to change my own brake light, I went back in to the store. The lady quickly asked fellow employees for any info to help me. Here is a quote from the service department after our vehicle sat for 1.5 hours untouched. Bought a used truck and wanted to have the brakes checked out. They had a coupon for a free brake check and said they could do the job but, it would take an hour or so so I decided to wait. An hour goes by and they hadn't even started when I talked to the guy at the service counter he said That's the way it goes I would just have to wait. Another hour goes by and the service advisor said it was all finished and the pads and shoes were in good condition. Front looked like new and the rear had 50% wear on them. A week later I was hauling a 25' trailer over Pacheco Pass and as I was going down a grade I couldn't slow down even with the emergency brake. Obviously something was wrong so I went to good year and was told my pads were riding on metal and now I would need to change the rotors and drums since the front rotors were now warped and the drums couldn't be turned anymore because of gouges in the metal. Over a thousand dollars later I was good to go and I could stop. Went back to pep boys and the pulled my invoice and he looked at the mechanics notes and the front was new and the rear had no notes do the Manager, Fernando was his name I believe stated it doesn't look like the rear was checked . He then told me I probably only asked for the front to be checked all though the scope of work said Check brake condition and advise customer Coupon included Free Brake analysis. I said this wasn't the case and then he said they probably didn't have time. How can they fool around with someone's life. I clearly told them why I wanted the brakes checked and that I would be hauling a trailer next week . I told them about Goodyear and their findings and could care less. Never go to this location for service. They rather lie and kill you.

The entire experience was a nightmare. I took my car in for an oil change and to see why there was shaking when pressing the break before selling my car. It took 2 hours to take my car back and an hour and a half to tell me nothing was wrong BUT I should replace the breaks, rotors, calipers, struts, tires and alignment to see if that fixes the issues I was having. Then charged me $19.99 for nothing. I declined all work and took my car to Toyota who diagnosed my car for FREE within an hour. After that I didn't trust Pep Boys so I checked the work that was supposedly completed. I Found out that they did not rotate the tires or change my oil filter!!! Not sure why I paid $64 for a service when it was not complete. Got everything fixed and sold the car but wanted to discuss this with the manager. He couldn't have cared any less. He wanted me to get my car back to show him. I explained that I didn't have it any longer and he pretty much called me a liar. Totally unacceptable experience. Made an appointment to have my car looked at, I informed the person on the phone that my steering was sounding rather strained. I figured it was low fluid, a belt, possibly a power steering pump. Got a call back from them and they said it was the power steering pump. i asked how much it would be to replace it and they told me 200 for the part and 400 for the labor including flushing and replacing all the fluid. A few hours later I receive a call and the man on the phone said they ordered the wrong part and the pump that they needed to order was going to be over 450 dollars. When they were told that I would be taking my vehicle somewhere else they informed me that they had to put everything back together because they started taking things apart before they realized they had the wrong part. To sum things up, this shop will waste your time and money and don't expect them to take responsibility for their mistakes. Not what you would call professional.

I scheduled an early appointment to get my cars oil changed, tires balanced, and an alignment. I got there and they said it'll be a little bit which was fine I knew I was getting a decent amount done. After about 2 hours the guy comes out to tell me there alignment machine only goes up to 2013 models...how can you have a shop that offers that after I said over the phone my car was a 2014? Why did it take 2 hours to tell me that? Then he said he drove my damn car without telling me first, got grease all inside of it and said its fine...that's what the machine is for not a joyride. Then he tells me the coolant is wrong even though it's factory and I needed to go to the dealer. I was worried so I called the dealer and left without time to voice my agitation. As I was driving there I saw they overfilled all my tires way beyond what they needed to be and when I got to the dealer they said the coolant was perfectly fine. My car has never had overheating problems so I should of known. The dealer at least ordered a TPMS I needed and installed it at no cost. I'll never go to a pep boys again this experience was absolutely awful and I can't believe they can even call it a service. A waste of my time, money, and peace of mind.

I arrived an hour before closing but Rick had a full smile and warm handshake for me. I was a bit frazzled from a problem with my brakes but Rick took special care to have Justin, a total sweetheart, to check out my van beyond just my brake issue. A really cool associate working the register with a hip ponytail, made sure that I didn't just buy the coolant I needed, he found the best one for the best price. The Christian radio was playing throughout the garage. This only added to my comfort. Rick offered me prayers for my trip back home. Justin treated my vehicle with the most excellent of care. After checking out I drove away feeling special not like just another customer. Waited 2.5 hours for them to remove a screw from my tire and fix the hole in it. There was only ONE other car in the bays when I got there. That was not including the 20 minutes it took just to get to the work order in because they had 1 guy working the cashier desk. Some lady was trying to return something in front of me which they needed a manager to do apparently so we had to stand there and listen to them call for the Manger on duty to come 3 times before he was told the manager had left... it was 2:00 in the afternoon! Love how they have the big windows to watch 3 different mechanics walk up to your vehicle stare at it do nothing then walk away. Seriously once the guy finally started on my tire he was done in 15 minutes which was all the time it should have taken considering how not busy they were.

Purchased wrong oil filter by mistake. They wouldn't return or exchange it. Manager was rude, uncompromising and not helpful at all. I took the reciept but left the oil filter. I wish I could take back the over 300.00 bucks I spent there last week. Will never use Pep Boys again. Feel free to cancel my "rewards" membership or give it to the manager he seemed okay with keeping things that didn't belong to him. Worst experiance I've had in a retail setting in a long time. Don't waste your time or money.

The tire warranty is a joke, a two year old tire rated at 55,000 miles with under 20,000 was only worth 35. dollars toward a new one costing 125. dollars, when a nail rendered it unrepairable. At Discount, you get a new one in the same situation, and just pay about 30. dollars total for a new warranty.

On April 26, I went to Pep boys on speedway in tucson, and request an engine diagnose, wipers, castrol synthetic oil change and fix what problems comes after the diagnosing. in addition i do have an appointment at 1pm and i stopped at 12:50pm. Finally at 5pm they called me to pick up my car and i looked at the paperworks and it is said penzoil oil change been done, here I really pissed I asked the guy why penzoil he said because you castrol cost more by $5, because they told me it is 49.99 and they couldn't honor the online price, so they put penzoil instead, how funny is that a big company can not honor thier prices so greedy. I do work for Wal-Mart and we do honor our prices whatever is.

On 05/03/2015 at 2:37pm my wife and I walked into this store and from the time we walked in until the time we left out the employees in here were very nice and helpful. They took there time to lookup the parts I needed and answered all the questions I had. they even asked if I had any other questions and I said no so I left and got a few blocks up and said oh wait I did have a question to asked I drove back and they answered my question I was so shocked about the services the questions I had was blanked in my head (LOL) All I can say is if you need good service come to this location they are way better then the other store. I called this Pepboys because I had problems with another Pepboys and asked if they would honor the work warranty at their shop. They said yes, so I made an appointment. After I made an appointment they gave me a hard time about working on the car there. They made it clear they were "doing me a favor". My girlfriend took her car in at the same time for an oil change/ fluid check. We went and got lunch and came back about two hours later. We sat in the waiting room for about an hour and watched as the mechanics didn't touch her or my car. They talked amongst themselves and texted for an hour. Finally we went up to an employee and asked when her car would be ready. They said "It's been done for a long time. No one told you?" No, obviously no one did. When we got her car back we found out they hadn't done ANYTHING to it. The customer service rep said she didn't need an oil change for atleast a thousand miles and then put a sticker on her car that said she needed one in 300. A few hours later- that night the GM (I think his name may have been Dave) called me and told me that his mechanic had spent too much time looking at my car and that he needed to get paid for doing jobs and that I'd have to go back to the original Pepboys (thanks for wasting my time Dave). Dave was unapologetic, rude, and unprofessional. The other employees seemed to be completely clueless. I don't know why this Pepboys has such good reviews- they're just as sketchy as every other Pepboys. Save your time and go with a different company.

My pal Owen acquired a flat tire while we were hanging out with our other pal Frank in fabulous las Vegas. We popped in to this off the strip Pep Boys where we experienced terrific friendly service. After choosing his tire we were told we could come back in an hour. We went to a lesser known casino and drank 1 and 2 dollar beers with locals. The tire was finished in the promised time and we have pep boys to thank for introducing us to off strip casinos.

I had the worst experience ever, I went in to simply exchange my battery and it took 15 minutes before someone helped me. The boss spent his time walking around like an aimless idiot, after 4 cashiers telling me he would be right with me. He final took my battery to the back and it just set for another 10 minuets until I got someone else to help me. I will never go back to this place the manager Jerry is an idiot.

Jerry saved my friend's vacation to Las Vegas! I want to give a shout out to Jerry at Pep Boys, because my alternator broke the day my friend was flying into Las Vegas. He saved me. In the past, I had issues with Pep Boys and unfortunately wrote some bad reviews, but when I need help in an emergency, Pep Boys manager Jerry took care of me. I am going to be more understanding now. Those guys work in the high heat with 120 degree temperatures and every customer wants their car fixed now, immediately, with no excuses at little cost. I appreciate Jerry's help with my car this weekend.

Brought my car in for tire repair. It took them almost four hours to look at it and then they patched it up and told me it was fixed. No apologies for the wait and they gave me attitude when I asked about my car. Drove it home and the tire was still leaking. I took it to another shop and they informed me it looked like they never fixed it at all, yet they charged me $30. The other shop repaired it and noticed a hole in the tire that hadn't been patched up. I then called asked for a refund from Pep Boys and the manager was a jerk. I will never go back here again. Scam artists.

I had a schedule appointment at 12PM Friday afternoon to swap out my summer tire for winter tires. I brought the car in 30 minutes early to make sure the service is completed in a timely manner (11:35am). At the time of check in, the service tech said he would have someone working on it right the way. (4 Stars at this point) When I went out for a quick smoke at 1:00PM, I saw my car still sitting in the parking lot.... Then I realized the car hasn't even moved. (0 Stars) It is now 1:57PM, I still haven't heard a word about my car... (-1 Star if is possible) I am getting hungry... Ok got my car back. I understand they were busy. 3.5 stars for all over professionalism.

You can't trust on their warrant period specially car tire. As my car tire was in warranty period of 60k Mileage. There was air leakage in my tire. Hardly I completed 25k miles out of 60k miles warranty. But this Pepboys, Brroklyn Center, MN were not ready to replace the tire. Intention of Pepboys tire person to replace the tire with full charge . Even it was in warranty of another 35k. When I contacted with another Pepboys located at Inner grove, MN then they replaced my tire.

Brought car in on a Friday afternoon for some scheduled maintenance. Checked on Saturday at noon and they said they were still working on it. Checked on Saturday at 4:00 and they said they didn't have anyone that could work on it but would call back. Checked on Sunday at 10:00 and it had never even made it into the shop so picked it up at 11:00. Follow up: Management contacted me about the problem and offered me a nice discount if I would come back and let them fix things. They were very helpful at the store and the work was done quickly.

Thank you for wasting my time and gas despite being a customer who purchased his Cooper Rs3-A's at your store. I called an hour and a half ahead to schedule an appointment for a quick tire rotation. I waited, then drove to pepboys and said I was there for my rotation appointment. The guy looked at me with a puzzled expression but looked up my name and yep there I was on the list. Oh but sorry, they can't take any more cars because they are too busy he says. Are you kidding me? First off, why even bother scheduling a time for me to come in if you know you're too busy? Second, why not call and tell me it has to be rescheduled instead of letting me drive there to find out? Hour and a half and my gas wasted due to their poor planning and lack of concern for the customer. This review would be 1 star except Chad the manager was helpful in the past.

They dented my car! And I got the worst costumer service in town !! The manager Brandon was pretty bad too. I made an appointment for Monday to get my mounts checked and told them about the issues. When I got there they were clueless so I provided my info and told them about my car and the mounts again, so I had to get in line(not how appointments work). I wanted to know which ones were bad, price of installing new ones plus the general check. So I left the car for inspection. After a few hours they called and said my front right mount needed to be replaced. I asked, is that all? the person on the phone was clueless again, I asked what about the trans mount? I new it was bad because I had just purchased the car and I was aware of it and I asked them to check it. They told me they'll call me back about it, this is when I knew I made a mistake by going to Pep-boys. Yeah the trans mount also needs replaced he said. I asked what about the check engine light on? I told him Autozone said it was the thermostat. The man abruptly told me it cost $100 to get that checked. So they didn't do a general inspection or the check engine light on which is a free service provided in most places. When I received the car I drove it down the street and realized the fender was dented so I went back immediately and told the manager Brandon about it. I pointed there was still grease next to the dent! He said he would personally call me back and I should trust him because he served in the navy for 4 years. The next day no one called me back and you what? I'm not even surprised. I called them instead and I asked about my case, the manager on duty was clueless again and had no idea about me or my car. I explained everything to him once again and he said he would call me tomorrow. The next day (3rd day) I get a call and I missed it so I heard the voicemail saying they looked at the cameras and found nothing and they were not going to respond for it! UNBELIEBABLE !! I'm %100 sure my car wasn't dented, I bought it 5 days before and fully inspected it! That is the only dent on my car and is definitely an eye sore. Worst experience I've had at an auto service, I would never and will never recommend this place to anyone ever! I will go out of my way to make sure no one else make such a stupid mistake as to trust their beloved vehicle to such a mediocre bunch.

The guy known as "little Brandon" here totally screwed me over. On monday he was supposed to order four KYB schocks for my car, a serpentine belt, and a third brake light. All of this was supposed to be installed at my 8am appt today. I called yesterday, thursday, and spoke to Jeff to confirm everything was ready to go. He said yes. So I showed up and NOTHING was ready to go. They were about to put Monroe shocks on my car LOL. Nice job losing a $1,000 transaction for pepboys you guys. Don't bring your car here for anything other than an oil change. They might even screw that up too, not joking.

Total scam artists!! I called the store and Brandon quoted me a price with a coupon he had for an oil change. I bought the car in and dropped it off with him and he told me the oil filter would be $3 more and I would have to pay for an extra quart of oil. I said no problem and can I pay now because I will be in a hurry when I pick the car up. He said they can't do that but will be quick when I pick it up. I picked the car up, paid the bill thinking it was high but I had to get back to work. When I got back to work I looked at the bill and they didn't give me the coupon discount. I called thinking it was an honest mistake and an easy fix... That is when he told me that the coupon he gave me doesn't work for my car. He gave me the coupon! Beware!!!

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change. When I got there, they said I have to wait at least 40 minutes. Really? Do you understand how appointment works? I came in on 2 different occasions. The first time I came in, the employee looked at me annoyed that she has to work. I gave her benefit of the doubt that it might be a bad day. Nope, the second time, same thing from another guy. I apologize for paying your salary. With an oil change comes a complimentary vehicle inspection. The report said I need 4 new tires and an alignment. I just have Costco replaced my tires a month ago and didn't even drive 1k miles on them and my alignment was done 2 weeks prior. From there, I stopped listening. What a waste of time.

I went there for an oil change. When I dropped my car off and asked what the price would be the service manager mumbled what sounded like a reasonable $18. When I went back to pick my car up, they told tell me that there were other problems with my car that needed to be fixed (my car is 3 years old and has less than 35,000 miles on it), and then told me that the charge for my oil change was $80! Even for synthetic oil, the dealership would have charged me less than that. The service manager's response was "I'm sorry if you misunderstood me". Crooks!

I brought my car into this shop after a friend who was changing my oil snapped the oil plug bolt head off, I was very concerned that this may cost a lot of money to fix because sometimes you have to replace the oil pan which can be very labor intensive. Chris at the service counter was very helpful and explained to me the how the repair would go, he gave me the best case (bolt is removed) scenario and worst case (replace oil pan) up front with a ballpark price. Chris was able to get my car into the shop pretty quickly to Raami who was able to remove the broken bolt with ease, all in all the repair was quick and affordable.

They never tell you how much stuff is till you go and pay for it. They tried charging me almost $500 more for tires then from what I orginally was quoted. They fixed it and I was hesitant to go back but its right near me. This time they charged double the price and their excuse was its a luxury car. On the paperwork even thought they dont charge per hour on certian things. They put in 1.14hrs even thought I was in and out within 30 mins. I can't even imagine how much more "time" they just add on when it really doesn't even take them that long. Never going their again. Will drive back 30mins to my old mechanic, its worth the drive.

Throughout the years, I’ve had good luck with Pep Boys, especially with tires. Moved here from Florida a few years back. Bounced around to a couple of local shops (it's a bit of a drive from my house) and gave these guys a shot and they were awesome. There are two guys there working the counter, Gino and Justin. Both of these guys are fantastic to deal with, and if you need major work done, will get you tremendous value if you ask. Justin has taken amazing care of me (and my family vehicles) my last two visits and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. I used to just use Pep Boys for tires, but my last few experiences, particularly with this shop have been fantastic. If you need tires, brakes, belts, whatever, see Justin or Gino. they will hook you up.

Big rip off! I bought a battery from them, then a few days later I found out that was almost $50 more than other places such as Walmart or Costco. Manager didn’t do anything about it. He said “No refund at all. You didn’t consider our prices when you buy it”. I said “Yes, I wasn’t aware of super overpriced items from here”. What a big rib off! I visited next day and shown what was went wrong and he checking and too the notes than he told that his manger will call you after checking the video. I waited for one week no call from his manger and again went to report same thing this also same response but i got manger number to talk directly. I tried managers number but every time it went to voicemail and left VM on his phone. Even though i did not get any response. This shows there service is very bad shape and no goodwill towards customers. I don't have zero start to praise them. If you need good service please look for another service. I recently went to Pep Boys with my 2 kids in tow to have a dead battery replaced. I worked with Isreal, he was kind and helpful. He helped me determine the best battery option that would work best for my car and my budget. He explained, in detail, the difference between the batteries and the cost so that I could make the best educated decision. While replacing my battery, they did additional inspections and noticed that my windshield wipers needed replacing as well (which they did) yet didn't push me to buy the replacements from Pep boys. This made me trust them even more as they didn't try to push me into spending more money. I ultimately decided to replace them. Isreal, helped me to select the best ones that were actually not the most expensive but the better quality replacements based on performance. The job was done rather quickly and I had a great experience. Will definitely go back .Thank you for a great experience.
